Diving into the weekend like….

Sometimes therapy looks like play… like crashing into pillows! 😊

But this activity actually has an important purpose.

Crashing into pillows gives children deep pressure through their muscles and joints. This stimulates the proprioceptive system, which helps the brain understand where the body is in space and helps calm and organise the nervous system.

For children who struggle with big emotions, impulse control, sitting still, or regulating their bodies, this type of “heavy work” can make a big difference.

In reflex integration sessions, movement like this helps the nervous system organise itself and supports the integration of retained primitive reflexes.

Movement is powerful therapy. Through play, we help the brain and body learn to work together. 🌱

💡Core stability & balance – Sitting upright while using the legs engages the tummy and back muscles.

💡Leg strength & adductor activation – Squeezing the ball strengthens the inner thighs, which are important for postural control and stability.

💡Bilateral coordination – The child has to use both sides of the body together (legs to hold, hands to stick).

💡Fine motor & tactile skills – Handling and pressing sticky objects onto the ball builds finger strength and sensory awareness.

💡Midline crossing & integration – Reaching across to place stickers helps integrate left and right brain coordination.

💡Attention & focus – They need to concentrate on holding the ball while completing the task.

🇬🇷 Ek geniet elke oomblik van my tyd in pragtige Griekeland, maar ek kan nie wag om terug te wees en weer voluit te help, inspireer en saam te groei nie 🇬🇷

Elke kind het ’n unieke storie en pad. My grootste voorreg is om vir ’n klein rukkie deel te wees van daardie pad – om te help, aan te moedig, te ondersteun en te vier wanneer my kliëntjies groei en oorwinnings behaal.

Ek weet dat elke gesin se situasie, tyd en omstandighede verskil, en ek respekteer elke ouer se keuse wat die beste vir hulle is. Wat altyd dieselfde bly, is my verbintenis om met liefde, geduld en professionaliteit te werk.

Dankie aan elke gesin wat my vertrou het en steeds vertrou – julle kinders is my inspirasie. 💛

With so much joy in my heart, I am happy to announce that Little Leaps Learning Integration will be open as from Monday, 3 February for appointments.

I am Tonya, Diploma in Early Childhood development and more than 9 years experience teaching. I am Internationally accredited through Rhythmic Movement International. A Certified Teacher using Brain gym movements and Edu-K techniques. A movement facilitator and a reflex coach.
