Is your child’s breakfast helping them focus, or setting them up for a crash?
Many children start the day with cereal, but even some “healthy” options can be high in refined carbs and added sugar.
That quick burst of energy can be followed by a drop, leaving children feeling hungry, tired, moody, restless, or struggling to concentrate later in the morning.
Adding more protein at breakfast can help support steadier energy.
Try simple options like eggs, omelettes, plain full-fat yoghurt with fruit or nuts, beans, cheese, meatballs, mince, or even leftovers from dinner.
If cereal is still part of breakfast, try a smaller portion and pair it with a protein source rather than serving it on its own.
Small breakfast changes can make a real difference to how children feel, focus, and move through their morning.
