Quantus Medical Foundation Donates Essential Facilities to Enhance Patient’s Experience at ABSUTH May 6th, 2026.

The patient care environment at Abia State University Teaching Hospital (ABSUTH) has received a significant boost following a strategic donation from the Quantus Medical Foundation. Realized through the Abia Rebirth Initiative under the visionary leadership of our health-friendly Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti (OFR), and coordinated by the Health , Prof. Enoch Ogbonnaya Uche, this intervention is a practical step toward redefining healthcare standards in our state. To maximize the impact of these resources, our Patient Liaison Officers (PLOs) remain stationed throughout the hospital, ensuring a seamless and professional experience for every visitor.

The donation, formally presented by Mr. Uzoma Onyeka (PLO Manager for Abia and Enugu), features new sets of comfortable waiting area chairs, disposable bio-safety boxes, and a complete waste management suite including refuse bins and nylons.

These facilities are to be stationed specifically at the Casualty Unit to streamline emergency response and immediate patient comfort. To maintain our new standards of operational excellence, these items are dedicated to this high-traffic area and are not to be removed or redeployed, ensuring that our emergency services remain fully equipped at all times.

This initiative is a testament to how ABSUTH is strategically positioning itself as a leader in medical excellence, adopting the structural discipline necessary to compete with top-tier institutions. The Reception of the WACPS Team Today at ABSUTH for the Pediatric’s Accreditation exercise

Abia State University Teaching Hospital marks a major milestone today as we host the accreditation team by the West African College of Physicians (WACPS).

Securing this accreditation is a strategic priority that will further validate ABSUTH as a center for specialist medical training and high-quality clinical services. This milestone reflects our commitment to maintaining the rigorous standards required to produce the next generation of medical experts for the region.

Following the formal introductions of the hospital management team and the WACPS Team, the Chief Medical Director Prof., Dr, pst, Mrs Nneka Okoronkwo officially welcomed the WACPS delegates led by Dr. Ugochukwu Ebele and her team- Dr. Hayatu Ahmed and Dr. Udochikwuka Ikejiaku .

During the session, Dr. Ebele Ugochukwu, addressed the assembly, outlining the objectives of the visit and a brief comment that standards expected will be non negotiable during the evaluation as all required boxes must be checked.

The Provost of the College of Medicine; prof. Chuks Kamalu noted that the hospital’s strength is built upon a diverse frame of knowledge and a balanced representation of age, gender and experience; so we are ready for this.

This was supported by the CMAC, Prof. P.E.N. Onyemachi, who assured the delegates that ABSUTH is fully prepared and that all necessary requirements for a successful accreditation have been addressed.

The CMD expressed her readiness to keep the ball rolling, emphasizing her commitment to moving the institution forward through a focus on an enhanced structure and professional diligence.

This exercise is a collaborative effort toward a better future for our hospital. We extend our deepest appreciation to the Executive Governor of Abia State for his health-friendly leadership and consistent support of our commissioner for health- Prof. Enoch Ogbonnaya Uche. We also thank the esteemed WACPS team, our management, and the entire staff for their dedication to ensure that ABSUTH remains a leader in medical excellence.

The momentum for Global Health Week 2026 is only getting stronger! Yesterday at the Abia State University Teaching Hospital, our Health Information Management (HIM) professionals took center stage to sensitize the general public on the power of data in saving lives.

We believe that a well-informed patient is a safer patient. Our team spent the day engaging with visitors and patients, breaking down how effective record-keeping and data management directly lead to faster, more accurate, and higher-quality healthcare for everyone.

It wasn’t just about the talk, it was about the connection! To show our appreciation and keep the community engaged, we:
