Ever walked into a hospital and felt overwhelmed, confused, or unsure of where to go?

You’re not alone.

For many patients and their loved ones, navigating a hospital environment can be stressful—especially during moments of illness, anxiety, and uncertainty.

That is why the Abia State Government, through the Ministry of Health, has introduced Patient Liaison Officers (PLOs) at ABSUTH.

This patient-centered initiative is designed to make healthcare more accessible, efficient, and compassionate for every patient who walks through our doors.

Patient Liaison Officers serve as a bridge between patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals, helping to guide patients through the healthcare process and ensuring they receive the support they need every step of the way.

From directing patients to the appropriate clinics and departments, to assisting with appointments, inquiries, and communication, PLOs are here to make your hospital experience smoother and less stressful.

Their presence reflects the ongoing commitment of the Abia State Government to improving healthcare delivery and ensuring that every patient receives not only quality medical care but also dignity, attention, and support.

At ABSUTH, we believe that excellent healthcare goes beyond treatment—it is about creating a positive experience for every patient.

This is healthcare with a human touch.

This is service with compassion.

This is another step towards a more responsive and patient-friendly healthcare system in Abia State.

Welcome to a better healthcare experience.

Protecting Our Planet, Preserving Our Health

When you think of a hospital, you usually think of stethoscopes, prescriptions, and wards. But today, June 5th, the team at the Abia State University Teaching Hospital (ABSUTH) is joining the world to celebrate World Environment Day.

Why? Because good health doesn’t start or end in a hospital bed, it starts with the very air we breathe, the water we drink, and the environment we live in.

We recognize the critical link between environmental health, pollution, and public health outcomes. You cannot have a thriving public health landscape without active environmental stewardship.

Today, ABSUTH joins the global community to commit to a healthier future. True preventive medicine means taking action for a cleaner, greener, and healthier Abia State.

Happy World Environment Day from the Management and Staff of ABSUTH!

Medical Science Meets Next-Gen Minds: Gospel International Schools Tours ABSUTH!

Today, the hallways of Abia State University Teaching Hospital (ABSUTH) were buzzing with the vibrant energy of pupils and students from De-Gospel International Schools!

It was an absolute eye-opener as the students embarked on a comprehensive academic tour across our various departments. This wasn't just a walk-through, it was a deep dive into the heartbeat of clinical excellence and healthcare delivery.

From the medical records to the specialized clinical wards, especially the pediatrics department; the students didn't just observe; they engaged. In every department, our seasoned consultants, nurses, and medical experts stepped up to address the students directly, sharing insights, answering burning questions, and demystifying the world of medical science. You could literally see the sparks of inspiration lighting up in their eyes!

For many of these students, today turned abstract textbook definitions into real-world impact. They saw firsthand how teamwork, cutting-edge technology, and split-second decisions save lives every single day.

This visit underscores what we believe at our core. ABSUTH stays deeply committed to fostering academic excellence, inspiring the next generation of healthcare professionals, and ensuring that our community remains a beacon of learning, mentorship, and premium medical advancement.

Absuth cares.
