WHY EVERY WOMAN NEEDS TO SCREEN FOR CERVICAL CANCER
This was written by Aproko Doctor on X...
Feyi was just 26, yet, she was dealing with stage 4, cervical cancer. Back in 2021, a doctor mentioned HPV to her during a checkup. She said she understood and would follow up. Then She left the hospital, picked up her kids from school, responded to her work messages, made dinner and forgot about it. She was fine. She felt fine.
Two years later, she started bleeding between her periods. She told herself it was stress. The bleeding continued for three months before she went back, but It was too late. She had cervical cancer. Stage 4.
Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer in Nigerian women. Yet, so many women have not gone for screening. Yet, many women have not received the vaccine that can prevent this cancer, the HPV vaccine. Many don’t even know it exists.
If this story can make at least one woman act, then it’s worth sharing. Women don’t have to die because of something preventable.
Share with as many people as possible.
