This week the United States recorded its first robotic telesurgery between two hospitals: a surgeon in Celebration, Florida, operating on a patient 35 miles away in Minneola, under an FDA authorized study.

https://share.google/YwJsr5nZz7WHwYYEt
ABC News called it a medical first.

Five weeks earlier, on September 19, 2026, a Nigerian team performed the first telesurgery in Nigeria and West Africa, between Ogun and Abuja, on the same robotic platform family.

Nigerian surgeons, anaesthetists and engineers, for a Nigerian patient, on Nigerian soil.
The technology that is making headlines in Florida is already in Abuja and Ogun State. Our surgeons are already trained on it. Our hospitals are already doing cases on it. Safe & Trusted Surgery. Right Here.

What happens when Nigerian surgeons can access world-class robotic surgery training at home?

More skilled professionals. Stronger healthcare capacity. And a brighter future for advanced surgical care in Nigeria.

The Federal Government’s pledge to sponsor qualified medical professionals for specialised training at the RHV RoboMed Academy is an important step towards building local expertise in robotic and advanced surgery.

Through this initiative, Nigeria can strengthen its pool of trained specialists, expand access to advanced surgical techniques, and build the expertise needed to support the future of surgical care across the country.

The goal is clear: build local capacity to advance surgical care in Nigeria.

It was an honor for RoboMed to be at the DACON 7th Edition at the Afreximbank African Trade Center African Export-Import Bank - Afreximbank in Abuja on 15 October.

The closed-door gathering of diaspora from the US, UK, Spain and beyond, together with Nigerian stakeholders, was meaningful and felt like a homecoming for our diaspora family.

Our COO, Efosa Eluma, shared that safe, trusted robotic-assisted surgery is now available in Nigeria through RoboMed and our partners Nisa Premier Hospitals and Redeemers Health Village.

Your loved ones no longer have to travel abroad for it. It can now be done here at home in Nigeria and across West Africa.

Our message was clear: robotic-assisted surgery is here. We shared it with Hon. Dr. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Ambassador Maureen Tamuno, Prince Dr. Sule-Iko and all the Nigerian stakeholders present.

Thank you to our host, Ambassador Eze, Founder of DACON.

Our people abroad can come home, because safe, trusted robotic-assisted surgery is here.
