I remember being a teenager when my dad asked me what I wanted to become.
Without thinking twice, I said, "A writer."
The look on his face? 😩😂
The funny thing is, I wasn't just saying it because it sounded nice. Back then, I had already written a couple of novels that I dreamed of publishing one day.
My dad published books, magazines, and things like that, so in my mind, getting my work published didn't seem impossible.
I remember telling my mum about the novels, and she encouraged me to give them to my dad.
So I did.
But after telling him I wanted to be a writer, his response wasn't what I had hoped for.
I don't think he meant any harm, but that conversation made me quietly pack that dream away. I figured maybe writing wasn't something I was meant to pursue, so I started looking for something else to do with my life.
Fast forward a few years.. Today, I'm a nurse.
And guess what? That love for writing never left me.
Somewhere along the way, I realized something that changed everything—I didn't have to choose between being a nurse and being a writer.
I could be both.
I'm still learning. I'm still growing. I'm far from perfect.
But one thing I know for sure is that I wasn't going to abandon the creative part of myself just because life took me down a different path.
Turns out, sometimes your childhood dreams don't disappear.
They just find a different way to live...
