🚨 IV HYDRATION THERAPY IS TRENDING… BUT DO YOU REALLY NEED IT? 💉

You’ve probably seen people talking about “IV hydration,” “vitamin drips” or “wellness drips” lately.

And honestly, some people now feel like once they’re tired, stressed, weak, hungover or simply want to “boost their body,” the next thing is:

“Nurse, give me drip.” 😂

But let’s clear something up.

💧 IV fluids are not bad.
They are an important medical treatment and can be lifesaving when someone is significantly dehydrated, unable to take fluids orally, or has certain medical conditions requiring IV therapy.

BUT…

Being a healthy person who can eat, drink and absorb fluids normally does not automatically mean you need IV hydration.

If you’re thirsty, drink water.
If you’re tired all the time, find out WHY you’re tired.
If you’re feeling weak repeatedly, don’t just mask it with a drip, get assessed.

And those “vitamin cocktails” added to IV fluids? 👀

Vitamins and other medications given intravenously should have a clinical reason, appropriate dose, compatibility and proper medical oversight.

IV therapy also isn’t completely risk-free. It can cause complications such as infection, inflammation of the vein, fluid overload, medication reactions and electrolyte problems.

So before you say:

“Abeg, just give me drip.” 😂

Ask yourself:

👉🏽 Do I actually need IV fluid?
👉🏽 What is the reason for it?
👉🏽 Has someone properly assessed me?
👉🏽 What exactly is being added to the fluid and why?

💡 The fact that something is given through a vein doesn’t automatically make it better or more effective.

Sometimes the best “hydration therapy” is simply the glass of water beside you. 😂💧

What do YOU think about the viral IV hydration therapy trend? Would you take one if you were completely healthy?

👇🏽 Let’s talk.

🚽 LET’S TALK ABOUT POOP… BECAUSE SOMEBODY HAS TO 😂

Before you flush, your toilet may have just given you a health report. 😂

Yes, I’m talking about 💩.
Your stool can actually give you clues about what’s happening in your body.

Here are a few things to pay attention to:

🟤 Brown: Usually normal. That’s the colour we generally expect.

🟢 Green: Can happen after eating lots of green vegetables or when food moves quickly through your gut. It isn’t automatically a problem.

⚫ Black: Sometimes caused by iron supplements or certain foods/medications. But black, tarry stool can also indicate bleeding higher up in the digestive tract and should not be ignored.

🔴 Red: It can come from foods like beetroot, but blood in your stool should be taken seriously, especially if it keeps happening or is accompanied by pain, weakness or dizziness.

⚪ Very pale/clay-coloured stool: If this persists, it deserves medical attention because it can sometimes be associated with problems involving bile flow.

And please… 😭

How often should you p**p?

There isn’t one “perfect” number for everyone. Some healthy people go several times a day, while others go a few times a week.

What matters is what is normal for you and whether you’re having difficulty passing stool.

🚨 Constipation isn’t just “I haven’t p**ped today.”

It can involve hard or lumpy stool, straining, pain, or feeling like you haven’t completely emptied your bowel.

And if you notice persistent blood in your stool, black tarry stool, severe abdominal pain, unexplained weight loss, or a significant change in your bowel habits, please don’t just say:

“It will soon disappear.” 😭

See a healthcare professional.

So the next time you’re on the toilet…
PAY ATTENTION BEFORE YOU FLUSH. 😂🚽

Now be honest 😂👇🏽
Do you actually look at your stool before flushing, or you flush immediately?

🚨 PLEASE STOP USING SPIRIT TO CLEAN OPEN WOUNDS! 🩹

For years, many of us have been taught that pouring spirit (methylated spirit/alcohol) on a wound means we’re “disinfecting” it.

But here’s the problem: alcohol can damage the healthy cells that help wounds heal. It can also cause burning, irritation and unnecessary pain.

So what should you use instead?

✅ Clean running water can be used to rinse many minor wounds.
✅ Normal saline is also commonly used for wound cleansing.
✅ Keep the wound covered with an appropriate clean dressing when necessary.
✅ Seek medical attention for deep wounds, severe bleeding, bites, burns, infected wounds or wounds contaminated with dirt/rust.

And please… that burning sensation is NOT proof that the wound is healing! 😂😭

Let’s unlearn some of the things we were taught and start caring for wounds based on proper evidence.

Nursing school taught me a lot, but honestly, some lessons were never found in any textbook. 😂

It taught me that:
🩺 You can be tired and still show up.
🩺 You can be scared and still be brave.
🩺 Not every patient will appreciate what you do, but you still have to do your best.
🩺 Sometimes you will make mistakes, learn from them, and become better.
🩺 Some days you will question yourself, but you must keep going.
🩺 And most importantly, caring for another human being is a responsibility that should never be taken lightly.

From student nurse to RN, RM, RPHN and BNSc graduate… the journey wasn’t easy, but I’m grateful I didn’t give up. ❤️🩺

I HAVE HELD THIS PROJECT IN MY HANDS BEFORE… BUT TODAY, I HELD IT DIFFERENTLY. 🥹🎓❤️

Because this time, I wasn’t just holding a project.

I was holding years of fear, prayers, sleepless nights, sacrifices, mistakes, lessons, tears, and determination.

When I first stepped into this profession, I honestly didn’t know what was waiting for me.

I didn’t know how difficult the journey would become.

I didn’t know the number of times I would question myself and ask,
“Can I really do this?”

There were moments I was scared of failing.

Scared of disappointing myself.

Scared of making one mistake that could destroy everything I had worked so hard to build.

There were moments I wondered,
“What if I don’t make it?”
“What if I’m not good enough?”
“What if, after all these years, I still fail?”

But I kept going.

Even when I was uncertain, I kept going.
Even when I was tired, I kept going.
Even when I doubted myself, I kept going.

I learned that sometimes, courage isn’t about being fearless.

Sometimes, courage is being afraid and still taking the next step.

And today, standing on this side of the journey, I finally understand why I had to go through it all.

Because the sweetness of success is different when you know exactly what it cost you.

It tastes different when you remember the nights you cried and still opened your book.

It feels different when you remember the times you wanted to give up but somehow found the strength to try one more time.

It feels different when you look at what you once feared and realize:

“I survived it.”

Today, this project is more than an academic requirement to me.

It is a reminder that I didn’t give up on myself.

And perhaps that is my biggest achievement.

So, to the version of me who once stood at the beginning of this journey, scared of what the future would bring…

I wish you could see me now. 🥹❤️

We made it.

Not because the journey was easy.

But because we kept going when it wasn’t.

And honestly?

There is nothing sweeter than finally holding the evidence that all your struggles were not in vain. 🎓✨

RN. RM. RPHN. BNSc.
And now, one more chapter conquered. ❤️

God, thank You.
I truly couldn’t have done this without You.

😂 5 THINGS YOUR BRAIN DOES THAT WILL MAKE YOU QUESTION YOUR OWN SANITY! 🧠

Before you read this, please know: these are common experiences and don’t automatically mean you’re mentally ill. 😂

But let’s be honest… our brains can really embarrass us sometimes! 😭

1️⃣ You enter a room and forget why you came. 🚶🏽‍♀️

You were just walking there with a very important mission.

You enter the room…

🧍🏽‍♀️

“Wait… why am I here?”

You walk back to the previous room and suddenly remember. 😂

This is often called the doorway effect—a change of location can temporarily interfere with recalling what you intended to do.

2️⃣ You put something somewhere “safe” and immediately forget where you kept it. 😭

You: “Let me keep it somewhere I’ll remember.”

Your brain 10 minutes later:

“I don’t know her.” 😂

3️⃣ You pick up your phone to do something… and forget what it was. 📱

You unlock your phone.

Open WhatsApp.

Close WhatsApp.

Open Facebook.

Close Facebook.

Then stare at the phone like:

“What exactly did I come here to do?” 😭😂

4️⃣ You read the same sentence several times and nothing enters. 📖😭

You read it once.

Again.

Again.

Again.

And somehow, the words are entering your eyes but refusing to enter your brain. 😂

Sometimes this happens when you’re tired, distracted or overwhelmed.

5️⃣ You’re looking for something that is literally in your hand. 😂

You search everywhere.

Under the bed.

On the table.

In your bag.

You even accuse somebody of moving it.

Only to realize…

YOU’VE BEEN HOLDING IT THE WHOLE TIME. 😭😭😂

Please tell me I’m not alone! 😂

Which one happens to you the MOST?

1️⃣ Entering a room and forgetting why
2️⃣ Forgetting where you kept something
3️⃣ Forgetting what you wanted to do on your phone
4️⃣ Reading without understanding
5️⃣ Looking for something you’re already holding

Drop your number in the comments! 😂👇🏽

And please, don’t diagnose yourself from this post. Persistent memory problems, confusion, major changes in mood or behaviour, or difficulty functioning in daily life deserve proper professional assessment. ❤️🧠

Holding this project in my hands today means so much more than just holding a piece of academic work. 🥹❤️

At first, stepping into this profession, I had absolutely no idea what was ahead of me. I didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t know how many obstacles I would encounter, how many times I would question myself, or how many moments I would wonder, “Can I really survive this?”

There were days I was afraid.

Afraid of failing.
Afraid of not doing well enough.
Afraid of making a mistake that could destroy everything I had worked so hard for.
Afraid that, despite all my efforts, I might not make it to the finish line.

But somehow, somehow, I kept going.

I learned. I stumbled. I made mistakes. I corrected myself. I cried. I prayed. I tried again. And when I felt like I had nothing left, I found another reason to keep pushing.

Today, holding this project after successfully defending it, I realize that sometimes the greatest victory is not that you never struggled it is that you refused to give up while struggling.

The sweetness of success hits differently when you remember the fear, the sleepless nights, the uncertainty, the sacrifices, and all the moments you almost gave up.

Today, I can look at this and say:

“I made it.” 🥹🎓❤️

To the girl who was once terrified of what the future held look at you now.

You survived it.
You conquered it.
And you have every right to be proud of yourself.

The journey was not easy, but the view from this side is beautiful.
