Bacterial Conjunctivitis- (A.k.A-Apollo)
Bacterial pink eye is caused by a three causative bacteria; staphylococcus aureus or streptococcal bacteria, Haemophilus influenzae, and streptococcus pneumonia. Its highly contagious and can result to out-breaks. Outbreaks are mostly witnessed in schools and can spread from children to adults. It can also be spread due to things like touching your eyes with unclean hands, sharing makeup, or having physical contact with someone who may also have been infected. It is also sexually transmitted.

Ophthalmia neonatorum is a severe form of bacteria conjunctivitis that affects newborns. Newborns' eyes are susceptible to bacteria normally present in the mother's birth canal. These bacteria cause no symptoms in the mother. But in rare cases, these bacteria can cause infants to develop a serious form of conjunctivitis known as ophthalmia neonatorum, which needs treatment without delay at birth to preserve sight. If not treated immediately, can lead to permanent eye damage or blindness.

Symptoms of bacteria conjunctivitis includes;
Redness, Swollen conjunctiva, itchy and burning sensation. more tears than usual, thick yellow discharge that crusts over the eyelashes, especially after sleep. It can make your eyelids stick shut when you wake up, Blurred vision.

Conjunctivitis -
Conjunctivitis, otherwise known as the pink eye, is an irritation or inflammation of the conjunctiva, which covers the white part of the eyeball. It can be caused by allergies or a bacterial or viral infection. Its important to note that When you have pink eye, blood vessels in your conjunctiva become inflamed. This gives your eye the red or pink color that’s commonly associated with conjunctivitis.

Conjunctivitis can be extremely contagious and is spread by contact with eye secretions from someone who is infected. It's important to stop wearing contact lenses whilst affected by conjunctivitis, if not, you get yourself re-infected even after treatment

Symptoms include redness, itching and tearing of the eyes. It can also lead to discharge or crusting around the eyes.

We have three major types of conjunctivitis;
Allergic conjunctivitis, Infectious conjunctivitis and chemical conjunctivitis.
