FIVE REASONS A YOUNG LADY SHOULD NOT MARRY A MAN FAR OLDER THAN HER OR OLD ENOUGH TO BE HER GRANDFATHER.
1. Value emotional and life-stage compatibility.
Love is strongest when two people can grow together. If you’re just starting to build your dreams and he’s already lived most of his, your paths may never truly align — and that imbalance can limit your growth.
2. Recognize the power dynamics.
Large age gaps often come with differences in experience, finances, and influence. A healthy relationship should be a partnership of equals, not one where you feel dependent, silenced, or small.
3. Protect your future self.
Your twenties and thirties are precious years for building independence, exploring your identity, and making mistakes you learn from. Don’t hand over those experiences to someone who’s already had their chance to live them.
4. Think beyond romance.
Infatuation can fade, but the realities of aging, health, and responsibility remain. Make sure the relationship you choose will sustain you emotionally, financially, and spiritually — not drain you.
5. Choose respect over rescue.
You don’t need someone older to “guide” or “take care” of you. You need someone who believes in your strength, respects your voice, and walks beside you — not ahead of you.
Facts remain that you can marry anybody you choose to but, there is also somebody you don't need to marry. Research has shown that 95% of young ladies who married men far older than them maybe due to their wealth or influences in the society end up leaving the marriage.
