*Health Commissioner Visits FMC Ikole*

Earlier today, Dr. Oyebanji Filani, Honourable Commissioner for Health, visited FMC Ikole-Ekiti. The CMD in his update, highlighted the positive increase in staff personnel, higher facility utilisation, and the hospital's focus on service delivery. He thanked President Tinubu and Governor Oyebanji for the unwavering commitment.

Dr. Filani commended the team for progress since his last visit, describing the FMC as a fulfilled promise of Governor Oyebanji. He urged the public to take advantage of the free CS initiative, a policy of Mr President.

At the children’s ward, Dr. Filani supported a teenage girl’s case by helping pay her bills after two surgeries and 90 days of care. He also directed that a man’s wife’s CS be covered under the free CS initiative, stressing no one should be denied such support.

THE SECOND SPINAL SURGERY AT FMC IKOLE-EKITI.
About three weeks ago we had a 72-year-old woman who had failed back syndrome following lumbar spinal instrumentation presented with severe low back pain and inability to stand and walk following the surgery she had in 2023.
She was re-evaluated by our neurosurgeon and she subsequently had revision on 2/5/2025. The back pain has resolved and she is now ambulating with Zimmer’s frame 2 weeks post operation.

Today, February 1st, 2025, the Ekiti State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Oyebanji Filani visited the new Federal Medical Centre, Ikole-Ekiti as part of his routine visits to health facilities across the state.

Thanks to the Medical Director, Prof J.D. Ogunlusi for conducting him and his team round the hospital premises. He commended Prof Ogunlusi and his team for bringing up several initiatives to ensure the FMC, Ikole-Ekiti becomes a model among others.

He appreciated how the visit afforded him the opportunity to interface and engage with some patients, staff and some members of the community.

Also, he reiterated the commitment of his administration to continuously providing quality, affordable and accessible healthcare services to the citizens of the State.
