WHY DO SOME PEOPLE FEEL WEAK EVEN AFTER MALARIA TREATMENT?

Recovery from malaria doesn't always happen overnight. Here are some reasons you may still feel weak:

🦟 Your body is still recovering. Malaria puts a lot of stress on the body, and it can take days or even weeks to regain your strength.

🩸 Malaria can reduce your red blood cells. The parasite destroys red blood cells, which can lead to anaemia. This may leave you feeling tired even after the infection has cleared.

💧 Dehydration. Fever, sweating, and poor appetite during illness can leave you dehydrated, contributing to weakness.

🥣 Poor nutrition. If you ate very little while you were sick, your body needs time and proper nutrition to replenish its energy stores.

⚠️ It may not be malaria alone. Sometimes another illness, such as typhoid fever, a urinary tract infection, or another medical condition, may be present. If symptoms persist or worsen, it's important to return to a healthcare provider for further evaluation.

Have you or someone you know experienced this after recovering from malaria? Share your experience in the comments.

WHY COMPLETING YOUR MALARIA MEDICATION MATTERS

It is important that you complete the prescribed dosage because it ensures the parasite is fully cleared from your body, not just reduced to the point where symptoms disappear.

When treatment is stopped early, some parasites can survive and multiply again, leading to a return of the infection.
It also increases the risk of drug resistance, which makes malaria harder to treat in the future.

Finishing the full dose helps you recover completely and protects both your health and the effectiveness of malaria medicines in the wider community.

CAN BITTER KOLA CURE MALARIA?

Bitter kola is often used in traditional remedies, and it may have some health benefits. However, there is **no scientific evidence** that it can cure malaria.

Malaria is a serious infection that requires proper medical treatment. Relying only on bitter kola can delay the right care and make symptoms worse.

It can be part of cultural practice, but it should not replace prescribed antimalarial drugs.

When it comes to malaria, treat early—don’t experiment.
