CYNTHIA CAME TO THE MARKET FEELING UNWELL

By 8 a.m., she already had a headache.

By 10 a.m., she was shivering between customers.

β€œI will be fine,” she told herself.

There were customers to attend to. There was money to make. And there was no one to take her place.

So she kept going.

She served one customer, then another. She sat down briefly when the weakness became too much, then got back up when the next customer called.

By midday, she was no longer thinking about how much she had left to sell. She was wondering how much longer she could keep standing.

Sometimes, the body is asking you to stop while life is telling you to keep moving.

Fever, chills, headache and weakness can occur with malaria, but they can also be symptoms of other illnesses. That is why it is important not to simply assume that every fever is malaria.

If you are experiencing symptoms, get tested and seek appropriate treatment.

THAT BODY WEAKNESS AFTER A LONG DANFO RIDE

You close from work, jump on a danfo, and by the time you get home, your whole body is weak. Legs heavy. Head pounding a bit. Eyes wanting to close before you even eat.

Most of us blame it on stress. The traffic. The heat. The long day.

But sometimes, that "just tired" feeling is actually your body's first quiet sign of malaria β€” long before the fever even starts.

The truth is, malaria doesn't always announce itself with a big fever on day one. It can start small. A little tiredness here. A slight headache there. Things we're used to shaking off because we have work tomorrow, or a hustle to run, or a family depending on us.

If that weakness lasts more than a day or keeps coming back, don't just rest and hope it passes. Go get tested. It is better to know early than to find out the hard way.

Your body talks before it shouts. Learn to listen.

Simple Ways to Mosquito-Proof Your Home

Empty standing water from buckets, flower pots, old tyres, and containers at least once a week. Mosquitoes lay their eggs in stagnant water.

πŸͺŸ Install or repair window and door screens to prevent mosquitoes from entering your home.

πŸ›οΈ Sleep under an insecticide-treated mosquito net, especially during the rainy season. It remains one of the most effective ways to prevent malaria.

πŸšͺ Keep doors and windows closed, particularly in the evening and at dawn when many mosquitoes are most active.

🧹 Keep your surroundings clean by clearing blocked drains, trimming overgrown vegetation, and properly covering water storage containers.

πŸ’¨ Use indoor mosquito control measures, such as approved insecticide sprays or vaporizers, if mosquitoes are already inside your home.

A mosquito-proof home is an important step toward protecting your family from malaria and other mosquito-borne diseases. Prevention starts at home.
