I found Out I Was Dating Someone’s Husband in the Worst Way Possible 💔👇
I once dated a man for almost 8 months without knowing he was married.
And the scary part is… there were literally no signs.
He was consistent, caring, always checking up on me. He paid attention to small details. Sent money without me asking sometimes. Even spoke about “our future” like he was serious.
Every weekend, he travelled to Abuja for what he called business meetings. I won’t even lie, I felt lucky. In my head, I had finally met one responsible and mature man in Lagos.
If he was in meetings, he would still text me.
If he got busy, he would explain.
Everything looked too perfect.
One Tuesday morning, he told me he wasn’t feeling fine and wanted to rest at home. I got worried because this man hardly complained about being sick.
So after work, I decided to surprise him.
I even bought fruits, drugs and his favorite food on my way to Lekki.
I got to the apartment around 7pm.
I remember smiling while knocking on the door because I thought he would be happy seeing me.
But immediately the door opened, my whole body went cold.
One woman stood there staring at me.
Behind her were two little kids watching cartoon in the sitting room.
At first, I thought maybe I got the wrong apartment.
Until she called his name.
The same man came out from inside wearing shorts and looking completely shocked. Like somebody that saw a ghost.
Nobody even spoke for like 10 seconds.
Then the woman looked at me and said calmly,
“So you’re the girl.”
Omo… my legs almost gave way.
I started apologizing immediately because I was confused and embarrassed. But the woman stopped me.
That was when she said the most shocking thing ever:
“I know about you already. You’re not the first.”
Apparently, I was dating her husband without knowing. And according to her, there were other women too.
I felt so stupid.
Everything started making sense instantly.
The Abuja trips.
Why he never stayed out too late.
Why he hated video calls at night sometimes.
The man started begging both of us at the same time.
His wife was crying.
I was shaking from anger and embarrassment.
I left that house in tears that night. Blocked him everywhere and honestly cried for weeks because I really loved him.
But funny enough, that heartbreak saved me.
A few months later, I focused on myself, my work and my peace. I stopped forcing relationships and stopped ignoring small red flags because of “love.”
Today, I’m genuinely happier.
And sometimes I still think about how close I was to becoming somebody’s hidden secret forever.
Lagos will teach you lessons nobody can teach in school. 😭
