My wife has advised me to seek the kingdom of God instead of looking for her.

I don't think I love my husband deeply. I don't miss him.
What should I do?

My Son Asked Me a Question This Morning

This morning, I walked into the sitting room, hoping to enjoy some quiet time with God before everyone else woke up.

A few moments later, my little boy walked in too.

So much for my "alone time."

I went to the shelf to pick up my Bible.

Without saying a word, he walked to the shelf and picked up his own Bible too almost at the same time.

Children are amazing.

They often don't do what we tell them. They do what they see us doing.

I settled down and opened a Psalm for him to read in his bible.

He is still learning to read, so I helped him pronounce some of the difficult words.

Patiently, he read through the passage but he left two verses which I completed for him.

At the end, I said “Amen” and he asked where I got that from since it was not in the Psalm.

I explained why I said Amen.

He was truly paying attention.

When he finished, I returned to my own Bible study while he continued flipping through the pages of his Bible.

Then he suddenly stopped.

"Daddy," he called.

"Yes?"

"Can you sing the Song of Solomon?"

I smiled.

Bro, the Song of Solomon is not a song.

I cannot sing it.

I had to explain that although it is called the Song of Solomon, it is actually a book of the Bible and not a song we sing.

Then he lay down afterwards.

This little moment carried some powerful lessons.

1. Children learn more from what we do than from what we say

I never told him to come and read his Bible.
He simply saw me doing it and wanted to do the same.

Whether we like it or not, our lives are constantly teaching our children.

If they see us pray, they will become curious about prayer.

If they see us honour God, they will learn to honour God.

If they see us treat people with kindness, they will naturally begin to imitate kindness.

Our lifestyle is their first curriculum.

2. Discipleship begins at home.

Many parents want the church to build spiritual children while the Bible places that responsibility first on the home.

Children should not only see us attending church.

They should see us opening our Bibles and honouring God with doing the Word.

They should hear us pray.

They should watch us worship.

The greatest sermons our children will ever hear are the ones they see us live every day.

3. Never underestimate a child's curiosity.

His question sounded funny.

But it was a genuine question.

To him, if something is called "Song," then surely someone should be able to sing it.

Children ask questions because they are trying to make sense of the world.

Instead of dismissing their questions, we should patiently answer them.

Curiosity is one of the greatest doors to learning.

4. Every ordinary moment can become a teaching moment.

That was not a planned Bible lesson.

It wasn't family devotion.

It wasn't Sunday school.

It was simply me reading his Bible along with him on a normal morning.

Yet it became a memorable lesson.

Many of life's greatest lessons are not taught in formal settings.

They happen in everyday conversations around the dining table, during a walk, while driving, or while reading together.

5. Your children are watching even when you think they are not.

Sometimes we think our children are too young to notice.

They notice.

They observe.

They imitate.

They remember.

One quiet morning with a Bible may be planting seeds that will bear fruit many years from now.

As parents, we should never underestimate the influence of our daily habits.

This morning also reminded me that parenting is one of God's greatest discipleship assignments.

Our children may not remember every instruction we give them.

But they will remember the life we consistently model before them.

I Can Fall into Adultery

I am a married man.

I have the capacity to commit adultery.

I have the capacity to fall into sexual immorality.

I have the capacity to commit many other sins.

That is not a confession of weakness. It is an acknowledgment of my humanity.

I do not deceive myself into believing that I am beyond temptation.

Yes, Christ lives in me.

Yes, I have the power of the Holy Ghost.

Yes, I have the grace of God upon my life.

Yes, I am genuinely born again.

But none of these gives me the permission to play with temptation.

I will not test my spiritual resolve.

I will not deliberately place myself in compromising situations.

Why?

Because wisdom does not prove strength by flirting with weakness.

When you know you have the capacity to fall, wisdom says, stay away from the edge.

Even if you own the best fire extinguisher in the world, you do not set your own house on fire just to prove that it works.

That would not be confidence.

That would be foolishness.

In the same way, I will not set my spiritual life on fire simply because I know God's grace is available.

Grace is not a license to be careless.

Grace is God's empowerment to live wisely.

My salvation is too precious to gamble with.

My relationship with God is too valuable to experiment with.

My integrity is too expensive to trade for a moment of pleasure.

So I will not go where I know temptation is waiting.

I will not create unnecessary opportunities for sin.

I will not assume I am stronger than everyone who has fallen before me.

I respect my weaknesses enough to avoid what feeds them.

I honour God's grace enough not to abuse it.

I fear God too much to play games with sin.

I have the capacity to fall.

But by God's grace, I also have the wisdom to stay away from what can make me fall.

My name is Sunday Anani

I have the capacity to fall into adultery.

But I will never test that capacity.

My Oluwatìmíléhìn and I served in Ogun State.

This was the POP day.

Glad that we were passing out, we were just catching fun, marching.

As at this time, my mind was fully on a lodge mate who I believe I was going to marry.

But she later turned down my proposal. I was disappointed but just ten days after the breakfast, I had my conviction on proposing to Timmie.

This was some 7 months after NYSC.

Our courtship process was one experience I can keep talking about.

Thorough.

Thorough.

Thorough.

I wrote a book to teach singles how to make the best of their relationship/courtship.

NOW, THIS IS COURTSHIP is the title.
