π¨β‘ URGENT SAVE OUR SOULS (SOS) APPEAL: PLEASE HELP SCIAN AMUWO-ODOFIN! βΏππΎ
SIX WEEKS WITHOUT ELECTRICITY. OVER ONE MONTH OF DARKNESS. OUR PLEAS HAVE NOT BEEN HEARD.
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN β WE NEED HELP NOW.
The Spinal Cord Injuries Association of Nigeria (SCIAN), Amuwo-Odofin, is once again crying out to the public, relevant authorities, disability-rights organisations, human-rights bodies, the media, religious organisations, civil society organisations and every person of conscience:
PLEASE COME TO OUR RESCUE.
It has now been six weeks since electricity was disconnected at our centre. For more than a month, our members have been living without electricity and, as a direct consequence, without reliable access to water.
We have pleaded.
We have appealed.
We have contacted relevant people and authorities.
We have continued to seek peaceful solutions.
But sadly, we have seen no positive result.
Meanwhile, people living with spinal cord injuries and severe disabilities continue to endure darkness, lack of water and extremely difficult living conditions.
This is not simply about electricity.
This is about human beings.
This is about people with disabilities.
This is about dignity.
This is about health, safety and survival.
For wheelchair users and persons living with spinal cord injuries, water and electricity are not luxuries. They are essential for personal hygiene, food preparation, cleaning, healthcare, medication routines, safety and basic daily living.
Imagine being unable to move freely because of a spinal cord injury and then having to live for six weeks without electricity and with inadequate access to water.
How long are we expected to endure this?
Our situation is made even more difficult by the disputed electricity bill of β¦640,564.82 for August 2026, despite the fact that the centre had already been disconnected and remained without electricity for a prolonged period.
The total amount being demanded, including the previous balance, is now β¦3,734,078.14.
We have repeatedly raised serious concerns about this billing and requested transparency, verification and a proper explanation.
Yet our electricity remains disconnected.
At this point, we are appealing to the conscience of everyone who can help.
π¨ TO THE LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT
π¨ TO THE RELEVANT ELECTRICITY REGULATORY AUTHORITIES
π¨ TO HUMAN RIGHTS ORGANISATIONS
π¨ TO DISABILITY-RIGHTS ORGANISATIONS
π¨ TO CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANISATIONS
π¨ TO THE MEDIA
π¨ TO RELIGIOUS AND COMMUNITY LEADERS
π¨ TO PHILANTHROPISTS AND WELL-MEANING NIGERIANS
PLEASE, WE NEED YOUR INTERVENTION.
We respectfully ask for:
π΄ Immediate intervention to restore electricity to the SCIAN Amuwo-Odofin Centre.
π΄ An urgent and transparent review of the disputed electricity bill.
π΄ Physical verification of the meter, meter readings and billing records.
π΄ A clear explanation of how the August 2026 charge of β¦640,564.82 was generated, particularly in light of the prolonged disconnection.
π΄ Protection of SCIAN members from conditions that further endanger their health, safety and dignity.
π΄ A meaningful resolution that allows our members to regain access to electricity and water without further delay.
We are not asking for special treatment.
We are asking for fairness.
We are asking for transparency.
We are asking for accountability.
We are asking for compassion.
We are asking for justice.
SCIAN was established by persons living with spinal cord injuries to support people facing the enormous challenges that come with spinal cord injury.
Today, SCIAN itself needs support.
Our members should not have to spend six weeks in darkness before someone listens to their cries.
PLEASE DO NOT LET OUR SILENCE BE MISTAKEN FOR ACCEPTANCE.
We are speaking because we are desperate for help.
ππΎ THIS IS OUR SOS.
If you have the ability to intervene, please intervene now.
If you know someone who can help, please connect us.
If you are in the media, please tell our story.
If you are a disability-rights advocate, please stand with us.
If you are an organisation or authority responsible for protecting vulnerable people, please hear our cry.
If you are simply a Nigerian who believes that persons with disabilities deserve dignity and basic living conditions, please raise your voice for us.
TAG THE RELEVANT AUTHORITIES.
TAG THE MEDIA.
TAG DISABILITY AND HUMAN-RIGHTS ORGANISATIONS.
We need help NOW, not after another week, not after another month.
β‘βΏ SAVE SCIAN AMUWO-ODOFIN.
SIX WEEKS IS TOO LONG.
DARKNESS AND LACK OF WATER MUST END.
PLEASE HELP US BE HEARD.
ππΎ SCIAN AMUWO-ODOFIN IS CRYING OUT: WHO WILL COME TO OUR RESCUE?
