One day, while I was at work, I suddenly lost my peace and decided to call my wife. She told me she was driving to the market and had a few other places to visit.
As we spoke, I prayed with her. During the prayer, I had a strong impression to tell her, “Please, use your side mirror before turning. Don’t forget to check it.” I emphasized it once, but I felt I should have stressed it even more. For some reason, I stopped.
A few hours later, she returned home. I was shocked. The side of our car—from the front to the back—had been scratched.
“What happened?” I asked.
She replied, “I didn’t use my side mirror at that moment.”
She explained that as she approached a junction, there was a car parked awkwardly, almost in the middle of the road, while another vehicle was approaching from the opposite direction. She carefully tried to pass through, but as she swerved slightly to the right, she didn’t check her side mirror to see how close she was to the parked car. She turned a little too much and scraped the entire side of the vehicle. The other car was also damaged from front to back.
She immediately remembered the words I had shared with her.
If she had paused to meditate on that word, repeated it to herself, and intentionally remained alert—“I’m careful as I drive today. I check my side mirror before every turn”—there was a much greater chance that this incident would never have happened.
Thank God it was only a minor incident. It could have been far worse. Sometimes the greatest miracles are the incidents that never happen because someone obeyed God’s quiet voice.
This taught me a powerful lesson. When God gives a warning, an impression, or a word of knowledge, He is inviting us to cooperate with Him. His guidance does not remove our responsibility. We must respond with intentional obedience, vigilance, and practical action.
The Bible says:
“Thus says the LORD… ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.” — Isaiah 30:21 (NKJV)
The Holy Spirit does not only prepare us for opportunities; He also prepares us for dangers.
Today, slow down. Listen carefully. Obey promptly. One moment of obedience can save you from years of regret.
May the Lord teach us to recognize His voice, treasure His warnings, and respond with immediate obedience.
