I came across this comment somewhere:
“Inasmuch as I love fashion and beautiful attires, the Catholic Church shouldn’t copy this new trend, please. The modesty and simplicity of their uniform is glorious. We have many other Sundays to wear whatever we like. People should stop instigating what is not necessary. It’s just like our usoro emume nke Mass dị asọ.”
Here is my take:

I truly appreciate the uniformity in CWO. Like the writer rightly said, I also love fashion a lot. However, there is a sense of equality that this uniformity brings, which is very important in the Church. As Christians, there should be no visible distinction between the high and the low, especially during occasions like Mothering Sunday, as we now see in the Anglican Communion.
You may not like it, but the truth remains the truth.

Looking at how a governor’s wife was decently dressed in the picture below —this is how it should be in church, particularly on occasions such as Mothering Sunday.

It is also worth noting that this kind of uniformity used to exist in the Anglican Communion. For instance, in 2016 in the Diocese of Ideato, I was given a specific style and material to sew, as shown in the picture below. I am not sure if that practice still continues in the diocese today. However, this trend of extravagant materials and styles is quite new in the Anglican Communion.
Even before now, I have been praying for that beautiful uniformity to return—because it is truly elegant. It is far more meaningful than the excessive display of lace fabrics and styles we now see, where modesty is sometimes compromised, with outfits exposing parts of the body that should remain private.

There are many occasions for elaborate fashion and extravagant styles, but can we not have at least one occasion where we all look alike and equal?

I also hope for the day when even clergy wives will embrace wearing a simple two-piece wrapper with a matching blouse. It is decent, culturally rich, and morally appropriate. These days, we seem to be more “English” than the English themselves.

If this truth offends you, I sincerely apologize.

Happy new month. This is our month of Divine encounter. Time to be more serious with God. Deep intimacy with the Holy Spirit.
