First Aid for Epilepsy
Here's a step-by-step guide on how to provide first aid for someone having an epileptic seizure:

Before the Seizure:
- If the person has a history of epilepsy, be aware of their specific needs and any emergency medications they may have.

During the Seizure:
1. Keep calm: Remain calm and reassure others around you.
2. Clear the area: Clear the area around the person of any objects that could cause injury.
3. Turn them onto their side: Gently turn the person onto their side, with their mouth facing downwards. This can help keep their airway clear.
4. Cushion their head: Place a folded jacket, pillow, or other soft object under their head to protect it from injury.
5. Loosen tight clothing: Loosen any tight clothing around their neck, waist, or wrists.
6. Do not restrain: Do not try to restrain the person or hold them down.
7. Do not put anything in their mouth: Do not put anything, including your fingers or objects like iron spoon, onions or garlic into the person's mouth so they won't go into shock.

After the Seizure:
1. *Check their breathing*: Check the person's breathing and pulse.
2. *Provide reassurance*: Reassure the person and try to keep them calm.
3. *Stay with them*: Stay with the person until they are fully recovered and conscious.
4. *Call for medical help*: If the seizure lasts longer than 5 minutes, or if the person has another seizure without regaining consciousness, call for emergency medical help.

Additional Tips:
- If the person has a history of epilepsy, be aware of their specific emergency protocols.
- If you are in a public place, try to move the person to a quieter area to reduce stress.
- If the person is injured during the seizure, provide basic first aid for the injury.

Remember, your priority is to keep the person safe and comfortable until the seizure passes and they regain consciousness.
