*DEAR FRIENDS,TODAY IS WORLD HEPATITIS DAY*
Many people live with hepatitis without knowing it because it often shows no symptoms until the liver has already been damaged. This is why hepatitis is often called a "silent disease."
First of my Dear Rotaractors; What is Hepatitis?
Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver, usually caused by a virus. The liveras we know is one of the body's most important organs, responsible for filtering toxins, aiding digestion, storing nutrients, and helping fight infections,Yes infections.
When it becomes inflamed, these vital functions are affected, and if left untreated, hepatitis can lead to liver cirrhosis, liver failure, or liver cancer.
_*What Causes Hepatitis?*_
Hepatitis is most commonly caused by hepatitis viruses (A, B, C, D, and E). It can also result from excessive alcohol use, certain medications, exposure to harmful chemicals, autoimmune diseases, and fatty liver disease.
How Can we prevent It?
- Get vaccinated against Hepatitis A and B.
- Wash your hands regularly and maintain good hygiene.
- Drink safe water and eat properly prepared food.
- Avoid sharing needles, razors, or toothbrushes.
- Practise safe s*x. OR Abstinence
Alright then,
How do we Keep our Liver Healthy?
Eat a balanced diet, exercise regularly, maintain a healthy weight, avoid excessive alcohol, use medications responsibly, stay hydrated, and attend regular medical check-ups. A healthy liver is essential for a healthy life.
Every 28th July, the world marks World Hepatitis Day to raise awareness about viral hepatitis and encourage prevention, testing, vaccination, and treatment. Hepatitis can be prevented, detected early, treated, and, in some cases, cured. Together, through awareness and action, we can move closer to eliminating hepatitis as a public health threat.
Protect your liver today, because a healthy liver means a healthier future.
