We’ve become so obsessed with finding partners who are financially stable, beautiful or handsome, curvy, or fit that we sometimes forget to ask the questions that matter just as much. Are they mentally and emotionally stable? Are they emotionally safe? Are they spiritually grounded? Are they generous? Because it’s one thing to have, and it’s another thing to give. Were they raised with love and good values? Do they value family, honesty, transparency, respect, and peace? Do they know how to communicate, take accountability, and protect the relationship? Don’t get me wrong—I’m not saying financial stability, physical attraction, or other desirable qualities don’t matter. They absolutely do, especially financial stability. But somewhere along the way, we’ve started prioritizing what attracts us over what sustains us. The truth is, those external qualities may get you into a relationship, but character, emotional maturity, shared values, and a solid foundation are what keep a relationship or marriage healthy and lasting.
