Learning Beyond the Classroom

I was opportune to be among the IT students who participated in the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Training. The training focused on preparedness, readiness, safety measures, and practical ways to prevent the spread of infections.

We were taught the proper techniques for hand hygiene, including how to effectively use alcohol-based hand sanitizers drop. We learned the importance of removing rings and other jewellery before hand hygiene and ensuring that every part of the hands between the fingers, fingertips, fingernails, wrists, palms, and the back of the hands is properly covered.

It was an insightful and practical learning experience that reminded me that infection prevention starts with simple actions, but those actions can make a significant difference in protecting ourselves and others.

Grateful for the opportunity to learn, practice, and grow as a Public Health student.

Being intentional about your health matters. The way you rest, eat, stay hydrated, and exercise plays a huge role in your overall well-being.

I’d love to know, what is that one healthy habit you’re committed to building?

Every learning experience is a step toward becoming a better researcher.

As a Research Intern at Centicini Research Lab, I gained practical knowledge of the research process—from developing Chapter One (introduction, problem statement, aims and objectives, research questions, and hypotheses) to understanding literature review frameworks, research methodology, data analysis, and writing conclusions and recommendations.

This experience has strengthened my research foundation and deepened my appreciation for evidence-based inquiry.

I'm grateful for the opportunity to learn, grow, and build skills that will support my journey in public health and research.

Welcome to July😊

Happy New Month

July is a fresh start, a strategic month to reflect on what didn’t go well last month and be intentional about your life.

Be mindful of what you eat, what you say, where you go, and most importantly your health.

If you’re feeling unwell and rest and drinking enough water that didn’t help, please don’t self-medicate. Visit a hospital or health facility and get checked.

Remember, only a healthy body can chase great dreams.

Have a healthy, productive, and blessed month of July💚

On my journey as an IT student, I was also privileged to speak to nursing mothers about Lassa fever and the importance of staying informed about preventive health practices.

Lassa fever is a viral disease caused by contact with food or water contaminated by the urine, f***s, or droplets of infected rats. Once contaminated substances are ingested, a person can become infected.

Some common signs and symptoms of Lassa fever include:
• Headache
• Sore throat
• Fever
• Bleeding in severe cases
• Loss of hearing

These symptoms should never be ignored. Once noticed, it is important to seek medical attention immediately.

Prevention remains very important:
• Block holes in your homes to prevent rats from entering
• Store food properly
• Wash your hands regularly
• Maintain a clean and healthy environment

An inform woman can transform her and I’m grateful for every opportunity to create awareness in my little way.
