OFFICIAL CLOSING REMARKS – HCRC PILOT COMMUNITY PHYSIOTHERAPY & REHABILITATION OUTREACH, ABULOMA 2026

With immense gratitude and a deep sense of fulfillment, we officially conclude the first-ever HCRC Community Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation Outreach in Abuloma Community, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Over the past four days, this pilot initiative demonstrated the transformative impact of accessible rehabilitation services. We successfully assessed and managed over 100 patients presenting with musculoskeletal and neurological conditions requiring physiotherapy and rehabilitation. Many individuals experienced significant pain relief, improved mobility, and renewed hope, while cases requiring further medical attention were appropriately referred.

The remarkable turnout, particularly among elderly community members who consistently attended throughout the outreach, highlighted the urgent need for community-based rehabilitation services.

We sincerely appreciate His Royal Majesty, the King of Abuloma Kingdom, the Council of Chiefs, the Youth President, the Women Leader, the Chief Security Officer (CSO), and the entire Abuloma community for their warm reception, support, hospitality, and commitment to making this outreach a success. Your cooperation made our work seamless and impactful.

We also thank every patient who trusted us with their care, our volunteers, and our partners at Bernice Physiotherapy & Wellness Centre for their dedication and professionalism.

As HCRC’s first pilot rehabilitation outreach, Abuloma has provided invaluable lessons, inspiration, and encouragement. This experience has strengthened our commitment to expanding rehabilitation access to more communities across Rivers State and Nigeria.

This outreach may have ended, but the mission continues.

Together, we have shown that rehabilitation is not a luxury—it is an essential healthcare service that restores mobility, independence, dignity, and hope.

Thank you, Abuloma, for believing in this vision.

Restoring Mobility. Restoring Dignity. Restoring Hope.

Movement is Medicine. 💚

Day 3 of our Free Community Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation Outreach in Abuloma, Port Harcourt was a tremendous success.

In collaboration with Bernice Physiotherapy & Wellness Centre, we continued to provide physiotherapy assessments, rehabilitation interventions, exercise therapy, pain management, and health education to community members living with arthritis, chronic low back pain, mobility limitations, and other musculoskeletal conditions.

Over the past three days, we have witnessed lives being impacted, pain being relieved, mobility being restored, and hope being renewed. These moments remind us why community-based rehabilitation is so important.

As we prepare for the final day of the outreach today, we remain committed to reaching even more individuals in need of professional rehabilitation services.

Today was a powerful reminder that quality rehabilitation services remain a critical need within our communities.

The Humanitarian Healthcare Outreach Initiative (HCRC), in collaboration with Bernice Physiotherapy & Wellness Centre, successfully commenced its Free Community Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation Outreach at Abuloma, Port Harcourt.

On the first day alone, we assessed and managed over 30 patients presenting with various rehabilitation needs, including:
✅ Chronic low back pain
✅ Arthritis and joint pain
✅ Mobility limitations
✅ Musculoskeletal disorders
✅ Functional impairments affecting daily activities

Many participants received physiotherapy assessments, exercise prescriptions, manual therapy interventions, and pain-relieving treatments that provided immediate relief and improved mobility.

What stood out most was the gratitude expressed by community members who often have limited access to professional rehabilitation services. Their stories reinforce why community-based rehabilitation remains essential in improving health outcomes and quality of life.

This outreach will continue for the next three days, and we look forward to reaching even more individuals in need of physiotherapy and rehabilitation services.

My sincere appreciation goes to the dedicated HCRC volunteers, the team at Bernice Physiotherapy & Wellness Centre, and every community member who participated.

Together, we are demonstrating that rehabilitation is not a luxury—it is an essential component of healthcare.
