THINGS YOU SHOULDN'T TELL YOUR FRIENDS ABOUT YOUR SPOUSE
Your family loves you.
They may genuinely want the best for you.
They may listen when you're hurting, defend you when you're angry and offer advice when your marriage is struggling.
But here's the problem:
*You may forgive your spouse.
*Your family may not.
*You may have an argument on Monday, reconcile on Tuesday and be laughing together on Wednesday.
But the things you told your mother, sister, brother or best friend may remain in their minds for years.
That's why not every marital problem belongs in the family group chat.
This doesn't mean you should suffer in silence.
It means you need to learn the difference between seeking wise support and exposing your spouse.
1. YOUR SPOUSE'S DEEPEST VULNERABILITIES
If your spouse trusted you with childhood wounds, insecurities, fears, failures or painful experiences, don't casually share them with your family.
Especially not:
“You know why she's like that? Her father...”
or:
“He has this issue from his childhood...”
You were given that information through intimacy.
Don't turn vulnerability into family knowledge.
