Epilepsy Part 3: Treatment and First Aid 💜
Epilepsy is a treatable disease with over 70% of affected individuals having complete stoppage following commencement of medication.

*Don't leave the individual alone
*Take away any harmful object within his environment like sharps objects
*Do not hold down the individual during the seizure act
*Do not pour water to the individual.
*Time the duration of the seizure
Immediately after the seizure
*loosen all tight clothings e. g ties, belts trousers
*Ensure adequate ventilation
* lie patient on their left and away from further danger
*Take the individual to the hospital.

Types and causes of epilepsy

Epilepsy can either convulsive or non- convulsive. Studies have shown that 70% of epilepsies are of convulsive type.

In about 80% of cases the cause of epilepsy cannot be identified or is rather unknown.
Other causes includes birth trauma, problems during childbirth, low birth weight in children. In adults, common cause include reduce oxygen supply to the brain in people that have stroke, brain tumors etc.
