YMLSF NATIONAL EXECUTIVES COMMENCES HIGH-LEVEL ENGAGEMENTS IN BAYELSA AHEAD OF 8TH ANNUAL PUBLIC HEALTH LECTURE
The Young Medical Laboratory Scientists Forum (YMLSF) has officially commenced high-level stakeholder engagements in Bayelsa State ahead of its 8th National Annual Public Health Lecture (APHL), marking the beginning of strategic pre-event activities for the flagship national programme.
Leading this effort is the National Secretary, MLS. Stephanie Omoarebun, who is currently on ground in Bayelsa State, working in collaboration with the state leadership, including MLS. Ebipadei Bowei Ofongo, Chairman, YMLSF Bayelsa State, and MLS. Eunice Ayamaere Lelei, Chairman, AMLSN Bayelsa State.
As part of the ongoing engagements, the delegation paid a courtesy visit to HRM King Bubaraye Dakolo (Agada IV), Ibenanaowei of Ekpetiama Kingdom and Chairman of the Bayelsa State Traditional Rulers Council.
In his remarks, His Royal Majesty commended the initiative and delivered a strong charge to the profession, urging Medical Laboratory Scientists to uphold integrity, prioritize the credibility of the profession above financial interests and take an active role in advocating for improved governance within Nigeria’s health system.
He further challenged practitioners with a thought-provoking question:
“Are you the best Medical Laboratory Scientist you can be?”
The 8th YMLSF National Annual Public Health Lecture (APHL), scheduled to hold from March 26th to 29th, 2026, at Ebi’s Hotel, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, is themed:
“Oil Spill Management and Public Health: A Multidisciplinary Approach to Mitigating Health Risks in Nigeria.”
The programme will convene Medical Laboratory Scientists, public health professionals, policymakers and stakeholders to address critical environmental and health challenges, particularly within oil-producing regions.
These ongoing courtesy visits reflect YMLSF’s commitment to strategic engagement, institutional collaboration and impactful programme delivery.
