Look at this little set : a baby, a uterus with the placenta.
I’m amazed with so many things about the placenta so here are just a few of them.
✨ The placenta is a disposable organ. Once it’s mission is done, and the baby isn’t in the uterus anymore, the placenta is then birthed.
✨It has multiple purposes, from bringing the oxygen to baby and get rid of the carbon dioxide, to feed and filter waste from baby’s bloodstream. And also secrete essential hormones for baby’s growth and prepare the body for breastfeeding.
✨The baby’s blood and the mom’s blood never mix together even if they’re both passing through the placenta.
✨Fetal cells can go throw the placenta into different part of mom’s body and can live there for years, it’s called fetomaternal chimerism.
