The worldwide CMTC-OVM is since 1997 the source for people who suffer from vascular malformations such CMTC. Our commitment is to support the welfare, foster well being of our patients and support the scientific research of vascular malformations. The patients in our organisation have the unique opportunity to get the best research of the causes, diagnosis and the best treatment of issues related.

Someone with a vascular malformation will look different in some way to other people which can lead to negative reactions from within their social environment and can give rise to psychological problems for the patient. Children affected by a vascular malformation often receive questions about this, because their condition is clearly visible. This can have a potentially negative influence on their social development and their performance at school. Other complications can vary from those of a cosmetic nature, visible veins for example, to those with serious and potentially fatal consequences. There are at least six known cases of children that have died as a result of complications thus far.
