Before I put makeup on a client’s face, or on a model at a shoot, I always try it on my own skin first. (Here: prepping a client at home before her shoot)
I’ve had painful eczema since I was a baby.
Diet and lifestyle have softened it a lot over the years, but my skin is still sensitive to almost everything I put on it.
So a lot of foundations are simply a no for me. Ingredients I’d rather not put on my skin, or in my body.
I choose clean and organic makeup wherever I can. And compared to ten years ago? These formulas have come such a long way.
For me, makeup should look flawless and natural, but even more than that, it has to feel good.
That’s what I hear from almost every client, too. The skin needs to feel light, to breathe.
Not itchy, not heavy, not coated in things it doesn’t want.
Two things I always come back to: a little foundation goes a long way.
And the glow I brush onto your skin is only half of it. The other half comes from within:
Drink enough water, get into nature, practise your yoga. All of it lifts your complexion and gets your lymph moving.
It’s also why every client gets a little prep from me for the days before- small, simple things to help your skin feel its best before we even begin.
Because to me, good skin isn’t something you put on. It’s something you feel.
