Time-restricted eating and high-intensity interval training are two efficient methods for improving health and body composition. In this study, we will investigate how 12 months of time-restricted eating and high-intensity interval training affect fat mass in adults with BMI ≥ 27 kg/m2.

Kamilla La Haganes and Marthe Isaksen Aukan attended the Nordic Obesity Meeting (NOM) 2026 in Stockholm from 4–5 February. This event brought together participants from various disciplines to share knowledge and discuss the latest insights into obesity etiology, treatment, and prevention, all aimed at improving the lives of those affected by obesity.

The two days were filled with presentations from renowned researchers, valuable patient stories, and a great social atmosphere that fostered meaningful conversations and connections.

Kamilla presented a poster titled “Time-restricted eating and high-intensity interval training with telephone follow-up in adults with overweight/obesity – A randomized controlled trial” and was awarded the prize for the best abstract elevator pitch presented at the podium. 🎉

Thank you to The Swedish Association for the Study of Obesity, the Swedish Society for Obesity, and the organizing committee for hosting an inspiring and well-structured conference with a strong commitment to advancing obesity research and care.

Update from the BEFORE THE BEGINNING trial!
Could preconception lifestyle changes shape newborn health?
Our study testing time-restricted eating + exercise in people at risk of GDM found no significant effects, but a tendency of lower birth weight hints at possible benefits.
More research is needed to unlock the full potential of preconception interventions.

Our latest study shows that a single exercise session does not significantly change milk levels of two key human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) : 3’-sialyllactose (3’-SL) and 6’-sialyllactose (6’-SL).
In a crossover trial with 20 exclusively breastfeeding mothers, we compared rest, moderate, and high-intensity exercise using NMR (DREAMTIME protocol). Only slight, short-term increases were seen after exercise.

Next, we’ll explore these HMOs in a larger cohort and during chronic exercise.
