छिमेकी देश चिनमा नागरिकको सुरक्षा र स्वास्थ्य पहिलो प्राथमिकतामा पर्दछ । हाम्रो देशमा राजनीतिक दल र तिनका नेताहरुले पार्न त के यी ऐजेन्डा सोंच्न समेत सक्दैनन् । आज त्रिशुलीमा बस खस्यो, फेरि केही निर्दोषहरुको ज्यान गयो ।

यो दुर्घटना होइन, यो राज्यको लापरवाहीको परिणाम हो, सडक असुरक्षित, सवारी अनुगमन कमजोर, उद्धार र उपचार प्रणाली कमजोर, चालकको शारिरिक, मानसिक र सामाजिक स्वास्थ्यको अबस्था नहेरिनु, चालकलाई यो सम्बन्धमा सु-सूचित नगर्ने परिपाटी हो ।

नेपालमा स्वास्थ्य र सुरक्षा कहिले प्राथमिकता बन्छ? जबसम्म जनताको ज्यानभन्दा कुर्सी ठूलो मानिन्छ, तबसम्म यस्तै खबर दोहोरिन्छन् ।

आम नेपाली जनताले भोग्ने जोखिम नेताहरुको परिवारले भोग्दैन, त्यसैले उनीहरूलाई हतार हुँदैन ।

अब प्रश्न सिधा छ हामी चुप लागेर कति ज्यान गुमाउने? स्वास्थ्य र सुरक्षा नहुने राजनीति, विकास होइन, धोका हो ।

घाईतेको सिघ्रस्वास्थ्य लाभको कामना तथा मृतकहरु प्रति हार्दिक श्रद्धान्जली ।

Dear Colleagues !

Now that exams are behind you and many of you are waiting for matching or deciding your specialty, this is a big moment. These choices shape not only your career, but the kind of doctor you become. If Psychiatry is somewhere on your list, I hope you will pause and truly consider it.

Psychiatry is different in a quiet but powerful way. Here, you don’t just treat lab reports or imaging findings. You sit with people in their most difficult moments. You listen to stories that are often never told to anyone else. You build trust slowly. And sometimes, your presence, your patience, and the way you understand someone can be just as healing as the medicines you prescribe.

In Nepal, the need is clear. Around 10% of adults experience a mental disorder in their lifetime, yet we have only a small number of psychiatrists serving a population of more than 30 million. Most are concentrated in major cities, leaving huge gaps in rural and provincial areas. Many people still struggle silently without access to proper care.

But within that gap lies opportunity. Choosing Psychiatry here is not just choosing a subject. It is choosing to build services where they don’t exist, to teach and mentor future doctors, to reduce stigma, and to shape how mental health care develops in our country. Globally as well, mental health is finally receiving the attention it deserves, and psychiatrists are increasingly valued across health systems.

If you want a career that blends science with deep human connection, that challenges you intellectually while keeping you grounded in empathy, Psychiatry is worth serious thought. It is demanding, but it is meaningful in a way that stays with you.
