एक नयाँ बिहानी: आशा र दृष्टिको कथा
निजगढ तिलगंगा सामुदायिक आँखा अस्पताल (NTCEH) मा, हामी हरेक दिन केहि साना चमत्कारहरू देख्छौं- आशा र जीवन परिवर्तनका कथाहरू।
यस्तै एउटा कथा निजगढकी ६५ वर्षीया महिलाको छ, जो पूर्ण मौनता र अन्धकारमा बाँचिरहेकी थिइन्। बोल्न र सुन्न नसक्ने भएर, उनी संसार चलाउन आफ्नो दृष्टिमा मात्र भर पर्थिन। तर जब मोतिबिन्दुले उनको दुवै आँखालाई ढ्याप्प छोप्यो, उनको संसार पूर्ण रूपमा अँध्यारो भयो।
विगत एक वर्षदेखि, उनी हिँड्ने, खानपान गर्ने र अरु सबै दैनिक गतिविधिहरूका लागि आफ्नो श्रीमानमा पूर्ण रूपमा निर्भर थिइन्। उनकी एक्ली छोरी टाढा बस्थिन्, जसले गर्दा उनको श्रीमानको सहयोग अझ महत्त्वपूर्ण थियो।
उनको छोरीले उनलाई हाम्रो अस्पताल ल्याएपछि उनको आँखाको ज्योतीको यात्रा सुरु भयो। आवश्यकता बुझ्दै, हामीले तुरुन्तै उनको मोतिबिन्दुको शल्यक्रिया गर्यौ र आँखामा तिलगंगामै बनेको इन्ट्राओकुलर लेन्स राखिदियौँ।
भोलिपल्ट बिहान, आँखाको पट्टी बिस्तारै हटाइँदा, हामी सबैलाई जादुइ क्षणको अनुभव भयो। उनको अनुहार अवर्णनीय खुशीले चम्कियो - उनी फेरि देख्न सक्ने भइन्! खुशीका आँसु झार्दै उनले महसुस गरिन् कि उनी अब अँध्यारोमा बाँधिएकी थिइनन्। उनी अब कसैको भर नपरीकन हिँड्न, खान र आफ्नो हेरचाह गर्न सक्थिन्। चाँडै नै, हामी उनको अर्को आँखामा दृष्टि पुनर्स्थापित गर्ने योजनामा छौं।
यस्तै अँध्यारो छाएकाहरुको जिवनमा उज्यलो ल्याउन नेपाल आँखा कार्यक्रम - तिलगंगा आँखा प्रतिस्थानले फ्रेड हलोज फाउन्डेसन (अष्ट्रेलिया) सँगको साझेदारीमा निजगढ तिलगंगा सामुदायिक आँखा अस्पतालको स्थापना गरेको छ। हाम्रो लक्ष्य दृष्टि पुनर्स्थापित गरेर जीवनमा नयाँ आशा प्रदान गर्नु छ।
प्रत्येक शल्यक्रियाको साथ, हामी केवल दृष्टि फिर्ता दिदैनौँ - हामी स्वतन्त्रता, मर्यादा र जीवनको लागि नयाँ प्रेम फिर्ता दिने सानो प्रयास गर्छौँ ।
A New Dawn: A Story of Hope and Sight
At Nijgadh Tilganga Community Eye Hospital (NTCEH), we witness miracles every day—stories of resilience, hope, and life-changing transformations.
One such story is of a 65-year-old woman from Nijgadh who had been living in complete silence and darkness. Unable to speak or hear, she relied solely on her vision to navigate the world. But when a mature intumescent cataract clouded both her eyes, her world turned completely dark.
For the past year, she had been entirely dependent on her husband for even the simplest tasks—walking, eating, and daily activities. Their only daughter, now married, lived away, making her husband's support all the more crucial.
Her journey to light began when her daughter brought her to our hospital. Understanding the urgency, our team immediately performed cataract surgery, implanting an intraocular lens in one eye.
The next morning, as the eye patch was gently removed, a moment of pure magic unfolded. Her face lit up with indescribable joy—she could see again! Tears of happiness rolled down as she realized she was no longer bound by darkness. She could now walk, eat, and care for herself without relying on anyone. Soon, we plan to restore her vision in the other eye.
This is why Nepal Eye Program - Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology, in partnership with the Fred Hollows Foundation, Australia, established the Nijgadh Tilganga Community Eye Hospital. Our mission is to restore sight, transform lives, and bring hope to those who need it most.
With every surgery, we don’t just try to give back vision—we give back independence, dignity, and a renewed love for life.
