Last week, we hosted New Zealand's two Chief Nurses, Nadine Gray, National Chief Nurse for , and Lorraine Hetaraka, Chief Nursing Officer at the Ministry of Health, at Tāmaki Health.
Their visit gave us the opportunity to showcase the breadth of nursing across our network, from Healthcare Technicians and Enrolled Nurses through to Primary and Specialty Prescribers and Clinical Nurse Specialists, along with our multidisciplinary approach to clinical education, in-house training, and the strong foundations we build for nurses and others, through structured online learning.
We also highlighted the career pathways and support available for nurses to grow in whatever direction they choose, and our team-based model of care, which helps increase access and reduce wait times for our patients.
The chief nurses started their day at MSO before heading out to visit two of our clinics, meeting with nursing teams and seeing first-hand the work they do.
The Chief Nurses were particularly interested in the many benefits a large organisation like Tāmaki Health can offer for both patients and staff. They were impressed by our focus on workforce development, and by our team-based model of care, which supports the delivery of quality, timely services to our patients.
It was a valuable chance to highlight the vital role our nurses play in delivering care and supporting patients throughout our communities.
