Celebrating Samoan Language Week 🇼🇸

This week, we came together across our MSO and some of our clinics to celebrate Samoan Language Week, recognising the language, culture, and traditions that are such an important part of our communities.

Led by , our teams shared kai, stories, songs, and performances, with our Samoan colleagues generously sharing their culture and helping us learn more about the significance of keeping Gagana Samoa alive for future generations.

For many of our colleagues and patients, language is more than words. It is identity, connection, belonging, and a way of carrying culture from one generation to the next.

A heartfelt fa’afetai to everyone who took part, performed, and shared their knowledge with us. It was a wonderful reminder of the richness that Pacific cultures bring to our workplaces, clinics, and communities every day ❤️

A standout moment for our team 💙

Rita Tai-Hewing recently took the stage at TEDx UoA, sharing her journey on “Ripples of Change” and the impact of self-care.

After attending a Self-Management Education programme 10 years ago, Rita spoke about how that experience shaped not only her own life, but the way she now supports others.

She reflected on being the “go-to person,” the quiet weight that can come with always giving, and the importance of recognising when your own cup is running low. Along the way, she shared simple, practical ways to better manage these moments in everyday life.

Her message was simple but powerful, self-care isn’t selfish, it’s essential. Small, realistic changes can create lasting ripples in our lives and in the lives of those around us.

We’re incredibly proud of you, Rita ✨

Today we celebrated Eid Mubarak, a special occasion marking the end of Ramadan and a time of gratitude, reflection, and community.

We couldn’t be more grateful to those who organised this for all Tāmaki Health colleagues. As a company, we’re all about learning and embracing different cultures, and this celebration means a lot to many of us.

It also marked our last get-together in our beautiful Sultan Street office… because, sneak peek, we’re moving! 👀

We were proud to host the IU Kelley School of Business Physician MBA Program at our Local Doctors Ōtara 24/7 Urgent Care & GP clinic as part of their 2026 global study tour.

The group visited to learn more about how we deliver integrated urgent care and general practice in South Auckland, and to see firsthand how our teams support patients and whānau every day.

Thank you to the group for visiting and for the great conversations about the future of healthcare.
