✨ TWO STEPS FORWARD, TWO STEPS BACK ✨
And this is why listening to your body is SO important. ❤️🩹
A couple of weeks ago, Clay got the all-clear from the doctor to start fully weight-bearing on his leg and, if it felt okay, to start walking without a crutch. 🦵🏼👣
His body was telling him it was too much… but he kept pushing himself. 🫣
Slowly, we started seeing him take those first few steps without a crutch. 🥹❤️
Because all he wants is to get back to his life. 🙏🏼
But after going to the physio this week, he was told to STOP. Slow down. 🛑
If he keeps walking the way he has been, he could potentially do more damage and develop a permanent limp.
And this is where we have to remind ourselves that Clay’s recovery is not just a simple broken leg. 💔
He had an infection, was bedridden in Thailand for a month, had a massive amount of muscle removed around his knee, and the whole area from his left hip down to his knee is still incredibly weak. 🦵🏼
So… it’s back to slowing down. 🐢
Back to using his crutch. 🩼
Back to consciously learning how to walk properly again.
One step at a time. 👣❤️
This healing journey can be SO long and painful. 💔
And at 21, all you want to do is rush back to your life. 🥺
But sometimes the fastest way forward is actually to slow down and focus on one step at a time. 🌱✨
I know so many people are going through their own healing journey, and I know how long and never-ending it can feel. ❤️🩹
But sometimes, when we become so focused on the outcome, we miss all the little steps in the middle that are actually getting us there. 🌿
I’ve learnt that our body is our best compass. 🧭✨
Learning to listen to my body instead of always listening to my mind has been one of the biggest lessons for me.
And this journey with Clay has taught me so much about how often I’ve rushed things too. 💫
Maybe one of the lessons in all of this is simply to slow down and be present in the moment. 🌸
It won’t always be easy.
It won’t always be fun.
It won’t always feel joyful. 😔
Sometimes the biggest growth happens in the hard, uncomfortable moments that we don’t necessarily want to look at. 🌑
But when you get through that stage, the growth, the amazement, the learning and the appreciation of how the hell you got through it can be bloody awesome. ✨🙌🏼
✨ You can’t fully appreciate the light until you’ve truly seen the darkness. 🌑➡️🌕
And maybe it’s this polarity that makes the light feel so much sweeter. ☀️💛
All my love,
Lisa ❤️
