Hey everyone,

I’m curious to hear from anyone who follows my page who has a child living with a stoma.

How have you and your child found the journey so far? What challenges have you faced, whether that’s with daily care, school, social situations, confidence, or simply helping your child adjust to life with a stoma?

I’d love to hear your experiences, what you’ve learned along the way, and any advice or support that you feel could help other families going through a similar journey.

Every experience is different, and sharing our stories can help others feel less alone. ❤️

Feel free to comment below or send me a private message if you’d prefer to share your experience privately.

❤️ A Message of Support and Healing ❤️
Hey everyone,

I was notified this morning that one of my followers has been admitted to hospital and is currently facing some difficult health challenges.

Out of respect for her privacy, I won’t be sharing her name. However, I would like to ask everyone in our community to keep her in their thoughts and prayers and send her some uplifting messages of love and encouragement.

I have known this wonderful woman for many years, and she has been a family friend for a long time. She means a lot to us, and we want her to know that she is not alone during this difficult time.

To her, we are sending you massive love, hugs, strength, and prayers for healing and a speedy recovery. ❤️🙏

You’ve got this. Keep fighting! 💪

Something really exciting could be happening this December! 🎉

I’m not going to give anything away just yet, but I’d love to hear your guesses what do you think it could be? 👀

This could be a massive step forward in everything I’ve been working so hard towards. It was brought to my attention today, and I’m now waiting on a phone call to confirm the details.

Fingers crossed! 🤞 I’ll share more as soon as I know for sure. ❤️

What do you think is happening? 👇

On the 26th, I’m really excited to meet three of my amazing followers and personally give them their gifts to celebrate my stoma’s first birthday! 🎉💙

To be completely honest, choosing the winners wasn’t easy. My partner and I had to go through the entries a couple of times before making our final decisions, but we got there in the end!

I’m genuinely looking forward to meeting these three amazing people, handing over their gifts, and sharing this special milestone with them.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to get involved and celebrate this journey with me.

Your support means more than you know. 💙🦋

Hey everyone! 👋

First of all, I want to give a massive, warm welcome to all my new followers! ❤️

If you have any questions, or there’s something you’d like to know more about, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m always happy to share my experiences and help wherever I can.

My story hasn’t been an easy one, but the challenges I’ve faced throughout my life have given me a deeper understanding of what it’s like to live with an invisible disability. They’ve also given me a reason to reach out and connect with people not just across New Zealand, but around the world.

Living with an invisible disability can be incredibly frustrating because, from the outside, people simply can’t see what you’re going through. But just because a disability isn’t visible doesn’t mean it isn’t real, important, or deserving of understanding and support.

For years, I’ve looked for different ways to help and support others. Today, I choose to share my story the good, the bad, the strength, the struggles, the pain, and everything in between.

Living with a stoma is something that still isn’t talked about enough, and there are so many misconceptions and stigmas surrounding invisible disabilities. That’s why I’m here.

I’m just a normal guy who decided to break down my own walls, speak openly about my experiences, challenge the stigma, and hopefully help others feel less alone along the way.

I was born on 28 September 1987, and throughout my life I’ve experienced things I wouldn’t wish upon anyone. But those experiences have shaped who I am today and given me a purpose: to use my story to help others.

So once again, welcome to my journey. ❤️
Sit back, ask questions, share your experiences, and let’s continue this journey together.
This is me. This is my story. And this is only the beginning.

❤️ A Massive Appreciation Post to the People Behind the Scenes ❤️

Hey everyone,

Something you may not always see is that there are some incredible people behind the scenes who support me through everything I do and everything I go through. A lot of their work happens quietly, but I want to take a moment to recognise them and let them know just how much I appreciate everything they do. ❤️

First, a massive thank you to my partner, Nicole Mulligan . ❤️

Thank you for always being there for me, supporting me and standing beside me, especially when things get difficult. You see the highs and the lows, and you continue to support me even when things become challenging. I honestly appreciate everything you do more than words can say.

Second, my amazing admin, Michael Boskell . 🙌

Michael has dropped what he has been doing countless times to be there for me, especially when I've been in hospital. He always tries to keep things positive, even during the moments when I find that incredibly difficult.

And whenever I receive a message, have something that needs posting, or need help keeping things moving, Michael is right there and straight onto it. I couldn't ask for a better person in my corner.

Third, Samantha Samantha Eva Webb . ❤️

Thank you for all your help with organising some very special things for myself and Nurse Maude, helping me spread the word about my journey, my advocacy and everything I am trying to achieve.

There is so much that happens behind the scenes that people don't always see or hear about. But I see it. I hear it. And I appreciate every single bit of support, time and effort that goes into helping me.

So to Nicole, Michael and Samantha thank you from the bottom of my heart. ❤️
Thank you for everything you've done, everything you're doing now, and everything you continue to do.

I couldn't do this without you. 🙏❤️
The fight continues, but having amazing people beside me makes all the difference. 💪

One year ago today…

I was sitting there waiting for surgery, filled with anxiety and holding back the tears. I was about to face one of the biggest surgeries of my life, not knowing what my future would look like.

I had so many questions running through my mind: What is a stoma? What will I look like? Will I be able to accept this? Is this really the best option for me?

The truth was, it wasn’t really a choice. After everything I had been through, this was the option I had left.

I was told this surgery would hopefully take away the pain I had been living with for so many years. Little did I know that one year later, I would be standing here with a completely different perspective on what a stoma means to me.

Over this past year, I’ve broken down my walls and allowed the world to see the real me. I’ve shared the pain, the anxiety, the fear, the struggles, the setbacks but also the strength, courage and determination I found within myself.

My journey hasn’t been easy, and there have been moments when I honestly didn’t know how I was going to keep going. But somehow, I did.
And there is absolutely no way I could have done it alone.

So today, on my stoma’s first birthday, I want to say a massive THANK YOU to every single person who has supported me throughout this journey.

Thank you for your love, your encouragement, your messages, your kindness and for standing beside me through the good days and the difficult ones.

Much love

Hey everyone,

While I’m currently in hospital, there’s been a bit of conversation about what I’ve been working on lately, so I wanted to share an update.

For some time now, I’ve been exploring ideas around getting stoma-friendly toilets installed throughout New Zealand.

For those of us living with a stoma, using a standard toilet can be extremely challenging when it comes to emptying a stoma bag. It can be uncomfortable, difficult to position yourself correctly, and there is always the worry of making a mess.

So, what exactly is a stoma toilet?

The concept is a purpose-designed facility that includes a waste-height basin or sink, allowing someone with a stoma to comfortably walk up to it and empty their bag directly into the basin. Beside it would be a suitable bench or surface where stoma supplies can be safely placed, making it much easier to change and manage a stoma bag.

It may sound like a simple idea, but for thousands of people living with stomas, something like this could make a huge difference to everyday life.

I’ve been reaching out to different organisations and places, exploring ideas and looking at how we could make stoma-friendly facilities more accessible around New Zealand.
It hasn’t been an easy journey, and there are plenty of challenges along the way. But this is a challenge I’m willing to take on not just for myself, but for so many people living with stomas across New Zealand.

This is what The Bladder Warrior is all about: raising awareness, challenging the way we think about accessibility, and trying to make life a little easier for the next person.

The fight continues. 💪💙
