Sometimes the best exercise isn’t the most complicated.

Rucking is simply walking with weight, but it comes with some impressive benefits, from improved fitness and strength, the better bone health and endurance.

It’s also a great example of one of my favorite principles: Small things done consistently often work better than big things done occasionally.

These are the benefits that Michael Easter talks about in his new book “walk with weight”. It’s well worth a read.

our body is always adapting.

We often think this goes in one direction.

Go to the gym = Get stronger
Walk more = Get fitter
Stretch = Get more flexible

But the opposite is also true
Sit more = Get stiffer
No resistance exercise = Get weaker

Your body adapt to the things you don’t do,
Just as much as the things you do.

You just have to decide which direction it adapts.

If you want to level up your walks, try rucking (walking with weight).

I have loved doing it over the last year or so.

Due to a foot injury, I can’t run that well, so rucking is a great way to get more out of my walks.

I just finished reading this book and it’s a great guide to learn about the benefits of walking with weight and also how to do it safely.

I would highly recommend reading it.

Give it a go.

But it turns out, it’s the small things and consistently that matter most.

Most people are looking for big changes, but those can be hard to maintain.

What actually matters?

Small things than consistently.

It may not feel like much at the moment…

But overtime, those small things add up.

I just finished this Darth Vader longboard painting.

I tried to make the light saber glow a little, by using a bit of blending and making the light saber the only white thing on the board.

I’m pretty happy with how it turned out, although I do need to work on my blending skills as it’s not something I do very often in my paintings.

I found the 2024 Lululemon Global Well-being Report: The Pressure to Be Well, really interesting.

What are the biggest takeaways?

Nearly half of people report experiencing “wellbeing burnout”.

Not from ignoring their health….

… but from the pressure of constantly trying to improve it.

The report, which included 16,000 people, found:
- 61% feel pressure to appear well
- 53% feel overwhelmed by conflicting advice

Honestly, I think a lot of people can relate to that.

There’s so much information online now that well-being can start to feel like a full-time job.

That’s why I always come back to the basics and what I call habits before exercise.

Stick to the basics of health, and then build from there.

Small things, done regularly, matter more than most people think.
