A very real perspective from Vex King 💫

So many people are burned out, and it’s not just because they’re overworked. Remember you are living a life … this is a great read

So many people I meet are burned out, and it’s not just because they’re overworked. They’re burned out from performance. From feeling like every moment needs to be optimized, monetized, documented, or turned into proof that they’re doing well. From trying to keep up with society’s invisible expectations of what it means to be happy, successful, attractive, productive, and worthy. From trying to appear okay, healed, and unbothered all at once.

They’re also exhausted from trying to work out what’s real. Whether that’s online, in the media, on the news, in politics, or in the people around them. When everything starts to feel curated, filtered, manipulated, or performative, trust becomes exhausting too.

Friendships can start to feel transactional, family can feel conditional, and conversations can feel like auditions. And because we’re living so much of our lives through screens, we’re slowly forgetting what it feels like to be fully present.

That’s why I believe we’re living through a Performative Pandemic.

People are tired of performing, and they’re tired of trying to figure out who else is performing too.

We’re becoming disconnected from ourselves and from what’s real. Deep down, we crave authenticity because some part of us knows it’s the medicine.

It’s time to stop performing a life and start experiencing one. To remember that it’s okay to simply be alive and human. Life isn’t just about growth; it’s about living authentically and connecting to what matters and feels aligned.

The healing often begins the moment someone drops the act. The moment they stop pretending to have it all together, and stop abandoning themselves for acceptance.

So, instead of thinking about how something will look, ask yourself how it feels. Instead of editing your personality to fit an algorithm, let it exist naturally. Instead of chasing approval, stay true to who you are. Life isn’t about chasing wholeness; it’s about expressing it.

Remember, you are living a life, not building a brand. And in a world full of performance, authenticity feels like an unforced exhale.
