The cold made me hibernate. Or I was just too busy actually holding spaces. Oh excuses. Truth is, I forgot to share August calendar!

We concluded the last of Sound Medicine & it was a beautiful wrap up empowering everyone to use their voice for self-healing, with a short guided shamanic journey to end.

This month we are also starting a new Somatic Vocal Healing container on 09 Aug. An 8 weeks journey into your Voice. We are half full, and open to a few more brave souls if anyone is keen to join.

As we hurdle and cuddle through the last winter month, if you’re too cold to get outside, join me for warm Tea & Tangle on 15 Aug. Limited spots only.

Sacred Jamming Circle last month was joined by beautiful voices, will you be joining us this month to create sacred music in the flow?

Client love notes brings me tears of joy sometimes. The knowing of having helped someone, doing what I love, sharing sound medicine is life changing not just for my clients, but for myself too.

I always remember my motto when I first started sound healing, ‘to heal one person at a time’ even if the world is in chaos, if I can just even help one person at a time, that is enough for me. Some days I will find myself wondering if what I’m doing means anything at all, if I can even someday sustain myself or my family financially working with sounds, but I remind myself when things are hard to keep going. There will be people who needs this medicine. The right people will find me at the right time.

Testimonials are not just feel good notes, but they are proof that someone has gone through the experience and came out lighter. It gives others in similar situations, that they too can find hope, if they are open to try sound as medicine for themselves.

I am hopeful that the power of sound will be reaching far and wide in the coming years ahead as transformative medicine for the body, mind and soul. I love sounds and it’s subtle effects rippling out to heal those touched by its vibrations and frequencies, helping them to find peace from within oneself.

If you haven’t yet experienced sound healing for yourself, and are curious, our next monthly sound journeys will be on 05 September, every first Saturday of each month. Bookings are available via website or link in bio.

Private 1:1 sessions are welcome via DM enquiries.

Every single day living and breathing Aotearoa air, I find myself a little bit more. Embracing a life surrounded by nature, I find myself seeking the light wherever I go. It is in these little moments of light seeking vs shadow play, I find myself lost in the moments with gratitude, to be alive, to be living this life just as I am.

Life can be so simple, yet so beautiful, but it does take conscious effort to look beyond the struggles of daily living to be able to see these glimmers of hope that surrounds us. Every person has the ability to find hope in little things that brings us joy. We just need to be open minded enough to see them, feel them, to take that moment to pause long enough to enjoy them.

As aging becomes a real thing, I find myself appreciating these moments even more. Even the laughs of my children, the silly antics they do, or how they respond to one another, I find precious moments worth pausing to simply make a mental note to remember those moments. After all, life is truly made up of these moments, and if you don’t take notice of them, life simply passes by you, and before you know it, you forgot to say goodbye or tell someone you love them, before time takes them away from you.

Time itself is speeding up in this era, but it is our responsibility to slow it down for ourselves, to remember who we are, and what it is that makes it worth living for.

Today we concluded the last session of Sound Medicine, a 4 months healing container. It has been a beautiful unfolding of healing journeys witness. I feel grateful and privileged to be trusted to hold this container, a safe space for everyone who joined to share their honest experience and feedback on each sound journey, and how they experienced it differently each time.

Today’s journey was a little different as we embarked on Somatic Vocal Healing to share how everyone can tap into the power of their own voice to facilitate their own healing. So that even when they cannot attend a sound journey, they have their own voice to help themselves come back to their bodies to ground and find peace within when life gets challenging. From the edgy anxiety of not knowing what to expect, to everyone making sounds that brought them back into their own bodies at the end was the unfolding of the power of voices, a powerful healing ability unlocked within everyone.

We also ended today’s journey with a short Shamanic sound journey with the world’s oldest instruments: rattles, flutes & drum.

Personally, it has been a beautiful experience to witness everyone’s healing progress, to understand their observations and integration with each journey. I’m grateful to be able to hold this container for everyone this season. Thank you for trusting me. 🙏🏻💖🎶

Sharing an article on The Joy of Improvisation written by my dear drum teacher Marla Leigh's Music Page with permission.

✨ The Joy of Improvisation
by yours truly...soon to be published on a blog

Improvisation is one of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves as musicians (and humans).

Many people think improvisation means making something completely new out of thin air. But I see it a little differently.

Improvisation is about being fully present.

It's about listening deeply, trusting yourself, and allowing the music to unfold naturally in the moment.

The truth is, we are improvising all the time in life. Every conversation, every step we take, every choice we make is unique. We can never repeat a moment exactly the same way twice.

Music is no different.

When we improvise, we move beyond memorizing notes and begin creating from a much deeper place. We stop worrying about being "right" and start expressing what we truly hear and feel.
🌿 What Gets in the Way?

For many of us, the biggest obstacle isn't technique ~ it's our own thinking.

We worry about:

Making mistakes
Playing the "wrong" note
Not sounding good enough
What others might think

These thoughts pull us out of the present moment, and improvisation can only happen in the present.
💛 The Secret

Instead of trying to play something impressive...

Try listening.

Listen to the rhythm.

Listen to the space between the notes.

Listen to your own breath.

When you truly listen, your hands begin to respond naturally. That's where the magic happens.
🥁 Improvisation Is a Practice

Improvisation isn't a talent that only some people are born with.

It's a skill that grows every time you give yourself permission to explore.

Some days you'll love what you play.

Other days you won't.

Both are part of the journey.

Keep showing up.

Stay curious.

Be kind to yourself.

And most importantly...

Have fun.

Because when we let go of perfection and begin playing from the heart, that's often when the most beautiful music begins to emerge. ✨

First time trying edits! Not sure if it’s my editing syncing skills that sucks or my improvisation that sucks! 🤣

Spent the day catching up on class 2 of Desert Prophecy. While I really love improvisation, I recognised that it is super challenging when there is a strong rhythm going on, and trying to listen to my own video, recording it, and starting in time is a challenge all on its own!

Gona try to play around more with my improv but homework is done for now. Marla Leigh

On a side note, we have folks joining us for Sacred Music Jamming Circle coming Thursday! Come join us if you wana explore live improvisation in a free flow music circle too. Bring your own instruments & voice! Sign up via website or link in bio.

As much as we humans can plan & schedule, the Universe always has its own greater plans. We were supposed to start Somatic Vocal Healing this morning but 2 attendees were stuck outside New Plymouth due to bad weather & earthquake road closure. So we made the decision to start on 9 Aug instead so that no one misses a class.

That leaves me time for a morning chanting practice to Lord Ganesha, the God of protection and remover of obstacles. May the roads be cleared and opened soon so that everyone can get home safe. 🙏🏻
