To every midlife woman navigating perimenopause... this is your reminder to be gentle with yourself.
If this isn't you, please feel free to scroll on. This post is for the women in this season of life who need this reminder today.
Perimenopause isn't "just hormones." It's a season of change that can affect your body, your mind, your emotions, your sleep, your energy, and even your confidence. Some days you feel like yourself. Other days, you barely recognise the woman staring back at you.
If you're feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, emotional, anxious, forgetful, or simply not quite yourself, know that your body isn't working against you it's asking for your attention.
This is a time to slow down instead of pushing harder. To honour your body's changing needs instead of fighting them. To choose rest without guilt, nourish yourself well, move your body with kindness, and give yourself permission to say "no" when you need to.
You've spent so much of your life caring for everyone else. Now it's time to make yourself part of that care too.
It's also important that we educate ourselves. Understanding what's happening to our bodies can help us feel more empowered, less overwhelmed, and better equipped to navigate this stage of life. Knowledge truly is power.
I've recently purchased a couple of books to help me better understand perimenopause and what my body is experiencing. I hope they give me the knowledge and confidence to embrace this new chapter, and they might be a great place to start for you too
Listen to your body. Trust what it's telling you. Ask for support when you need it. There is strength in slowing down, and there is power in putting yourself first.
Perimenopause isn't the end of who you are it's the beginning of a new chapter. One where your wellbeing matters just as much as everyone else's.
You deserve compassion, support, and the space to thrive, not just survive 🙌
