What a way to 'Bridge an Island!'

The Waiheke Bridge Club held their annual tournament to benefit the Health Trust on Saturday and a great day was had by all - because who needs good cards when there's such a good cause to play for?

At a time when funding is challenging and uncertain, we are incredibly grateful for consistent support from community organisations like the Bridge Club. Thank you from all of us at Waiheke Health Trust!

We are so grateful to Cath Handley for sharing such a personal story in support of Waiheke Health Trust and to Chlöe Swarbrick for her ongoing advocacy on behalf of our Home and Community Support Services.

Cath's words speak volumes:

“I do ask that HNZ reconsider the awarding of contracts to island communities, and recognise the multiplicity of issues that arise when contracts are moved off-island.

“These can be profound and irreversible.”

When Cath Handley is asked to describe her husband, Peter Hill, she talks about his “irreverent” and “warm and affable” personality.

A big thank you to Waiheke Radio for hosting Stephanie and Jen yesterday to discuss the loss of Waiheke Health Trust's Health New Zealand Home and Community Support contracts.

We really appreciated Chris's insightful questions and the chance to discuss how the Trust has supported some of our most vulnerable community members through these contracts for the past 17 years.

Waiheke Bridge Club has made their charity event an annual occurrence and are again donating all proceeds to Waiheke Health Trust!

If you're keen for a fun and friendly day out, they're accepting registrations through 8 August and are happy for all level of bridge players to join them.

Your registration fee gets you great company, a delicious lunch and the opportunity to support community healthcare on Waiheke Island!

A big thanks to SeaLink NZ for jumping in yet again to fill a gap for our Waiheke patients!

A few years ago we contacted SeaLink to share the story of a patient who couldn't physically manage the trip to the hospital on the passenger ferry but who couldn't afford the car ferry. SeaLink agreed that this wasn't an isolated situation and decided to provide Waiheke Health Trust with a sponsorship budget which could be used to help patients get to hospital appointments.

THREE YEARS LATER and SeaLink is still providing us with an annual sponsorship budget. We love being able to share their generousity with our patients as it makes a stressful time quite a bit sweeter. Thank you SeaLink NZ!

Cups of tea, slices and hand massages are on offer until 2pm, along with the chance to chat with Steph and Catriona from the Waiheke Health Trust.

One of the key services that Waiheke Health Trust provides is Home Support Services for the island.

Our 15 Community Support Workers are trained, qualified and vetted. They can provide personal cares, home help, food preparation, assistance with shopping and appointments, and day and overnight respite services.
