Making a new batch of Kawakawa Healing Balm… Perfect for Christmas bundles.
This stunning rongoā can help many ailments because it is said that it is the only rakau from Io themself instead of Tāne Mahuta. Io gifted it to Papatūānuku to help her grieving manawa (heart) from her split from Ranginui which is why it is shaped like a heart.
Kawakawa taken topically can help with:

Circulation
Joints
Cuts
Bruises
Rashes
Eczema
Psoriasis
Dry lips and skin
Insect bites
Bruising

Comes in 30ml, 60ml and 120ml. Give me a message if you’d like to order x

The Lungs of the Ngahere/Forest🌬️🌳

Angiangi/Usnea is a lichen and is known as the lungs because of its ability to suck up pollutants. So, the air is always pure where angiangi grows.

Angiangi also connects to our own lungs and respiratory system as a rongoā. It can help: Lung Infections, pneumonia, bronchitis, chest pain, difficulty breathing, sore throats.

Grief and sadness also show up in our lungs. The lungs draw in and draw out and when we are grieving, we are less likely to allow our breath to pass through our lungs smoothly. So angiangi can be used when we are working through grief and sadness to validate it and move through it, so it does not stay stuck and cause mauiui/sickness in the lungs. When using angiangi you can call upon Hineahuone (first woman) & Tāwhirimātea (atua of wind and weather) and focus on intentional breathing to allow the grief and sadness to flow through.💧

Angiangi is an anti-bacterial, anti-microbial, anti-viral and is also a rongoā for:
Boosting immunity
Digestive tract health
Skin- Acne, blackheads, rosacea, inflammation, skin infections
Fungal infections- Athletes foot, thrush, jock itch
Bladder infections & STI
Fever
Wounds- Stop bleeding, draw out infections
Our tūpuna also used to use angiangi as a kind of ikura/menstrual pad because of its high absorbency. 🩸

When Foraging: Take from the whenua or fallen branches after a storm or high winds. Don’t pick from the rakau itself because it takes so long to grow. Don’t take angiangi from fences or from whenua that has been contaminated. For the most potent in rongoā, use the ones that have gone orange.🌳🌳

Safety: don’t use it if you have liver issues. Do not use long term, up to three weeks.

I have started on my path for my rongoā business and wanted to use this platform to share knowledge and sell/trade rongoā. It is important to look into all sides of our beings which include wairua, hinengaro, tinana, whānau and whenua (spirit, mind, body, family and land) in order to gain better health outcomes.

I work with te taiao/our natural environment to create tinctures, wairakau, hinu makawe (hair oil), hinu kanohi (face oil), hinu mirimiri (massage oil), Pani (Balms) and Bath Salts. I work with both native and non-native rākau which include-
Kawakawa
Kohekohe
Koromiko
Tātarāmoa
Kopakopa
Angiangi (Lichen)
Māpou
Elderflower
Lavender
Rosemary
Taupata
Blue lotus
Im also on my mirimiri journey so hit me up if you want a mirimiri (still a pēpi in that space though)

I have been blessed to gain mātauranga from our rongoā nannies from Te Wānanga o Raukawa- Nanny Mate, Nanny Rita and also Whaea Maudy. Other mātauranga I have gained has been from different wānanga, my sisters in rongoā (+ brother Joe & Whatumoana), cousin Nemo, the rākau themselves and different pukapuka and electronic resources.

I'll be posting my different creations on here, feel free to add your own mātauranga in the space

Nau mai , haere mai xx
