Breast cancer poses a significant health risk for Māori women in New Zealand. Statistics indicate that Māori women are 33% more likely to die from breast cancer within 10 years of diagnosis compared to other ethnic groups. This disparity highlights the importance of early detection and regular screening. Additionally, Māori women have seen a 70% increase in breast cancer rates over recent decades, and their risk of developing breast cancer is 24% higher than that of European/Other women. This underscores the critical need for targeted awareness and healthcare initiatives to address these challenges.
