Te Aroha ō te ao Qualified in Romiromi/Mirimiri

This week has been so up and down and wishy washy 😭🤣 in and out of hospital and my bed, but somehow some way I STILL managed to move into my whare 🥹🥰

Couldn’t have done it without my whānau who came and helped me, especially my daddy!! 🥹 I’m sooo excited to finally have my own space. A sanctuary, if you will ✨

With everything going on with my health lately I’ve definitely felt defeated this week. So much pressure and fluid in my brain has made it hard to stay upright for too long because lying down is where I feel best. I’m still trying to adjust to this weird new norm while I wait to get the right help. I’ve felt like a zombie, looked like one too 😭🤣

BUTTT the highlight through all of it was getting my stuff moved into my whare… even though I’m currently not even there 😭🤣 nobody wanted to stay with me and apparently I can’t be alone in case something happens 🙄😂 fml.

And OOOOP on top of all that, I had to start my pre-op diet for my gallbladder removal 🥲🤣 only to realise I’d been UNDER FEEDING MYSELF basically the whole week because I read my meal plan completely wrong 😭😭 no wonder I was wondering why tf I was so lethargic.

Anywhoooo… that’s my life right now 🤣🥲 but amongst all the chaos, I GOT MY WHAREEEEEE 🏡🥹🥰 and I cannot wait to turn it into my little sanctuary.

Whānau, after this weekend I’ve made the decision to take the next month off from bookings.

For a long time I’ve been putting myself and my health on the back burner trying to push through and get my business stable. But I’ve realised that if I’m not healthy my business can’t thrive either.

With all my health appointments, upcoming surgeries, moving into my new whare and just life in general I’ve found myself becoming overwhelmed. It’s time to slow down, reset and put the same aroha back into myself that I pour into everyone else.

I’m incredibly grateful for the people in my life who have understood this season and have given me the space and time to heal without the pressure of money or obligations. And I’m also proud of myself for standing back in my own mana and giving myself permission to rest.

This isn’t giving up. It’s making sure I can come back stronger, healthier and able to serve from a full cup instead of an empty one.

Ngā mihi nui to everyone who has supported me on this journey. I’ll see you all soon. ❤️

Māori, Pacific people and young people are not being prioritised when it comes to accessing mental health support, a new report has found, despite evidence clearly demonstrating these groups need a higher level of support.

Kia ora whānau,

This is me almost 7 days post-op after corneal cross-linking surgery (I think that’s what it’s called 😂).

About 6 hours after surgery I ended up in ED with excruciating pain in my right eye. I honestly had myself convinced something had gone wrong because my left eye felt exactly how my surgeon said it would, but my right eye was on a whole different level. Even the doctors couldn’t figure out what was causing the extra pain. Looking back now, I think I just got myself really worked up because it was so intense.

Anyway… everything turned out to be fine, apart from spending the night in hospital. 😆

Now here’s the funny part…

The nurse was meant to guide me to the toilet because I couldn’t open my eyes… instead she accidentally walked me straight into the sink or the door I don’t even know 😭🤣

THEN the optometrist had me walk from my ward all the way to the optometry ward… still unable to open my eyes. 😭😂

At the time it definitely wasn’t funny, but once I was a bit more with it I couldn’t help but laugh because the whole situation was absolutely diabolical. 🤦🏽‍♀️🤣 but I did have the best care! I just thought these events were crack up 😭😆

swelling has definitely come down a lot the headaches are still very prominent, I hate the sunlight, one minute I’m good the next minute I’m in bed curled up trying to escape the daylight and the noises 😭

Life is extra busy this week with all that’s going on (for the better) IYKYK! But I am on the mend each day is a step closer to being back to normal 😊

Truly was the best day!! And to think I almost let anxiety tell me not to go 😆🫶 Hine Mauri I truly reccomend attending one of their wananga wahine mā! It was so refreshing to be in a room full of mana wahine and connect with others

Our tinana isn’t meant to carry everything forever.

Sometimes the best thing we can do is slow down.

Just like a river, our bodies are always moving. Some days everything flows with ease, and other days we hold onto things that were never ours to carry.

Stress.
Grief.
Pressure.
Life.

Our tinana has a way of reminding us when it’s had enough.

Take a moment to check in with yourself.

How are you really feeling?

Not the answer you give everyone else… the honest one.

Be kind to yourself. Your body has carried you through every season of your life and it deserves to be looked after too.

I also needed this reminder how about you?

Where does your body hold onto stress?

A lot of us think stress only affects our mind, but our tinana has a way of carrying it too.

You might notice:
• Tight shoulders and neck
• Jaw clenching
• Headaches
• Lower back pain
• Shallow breathing
• Feeling physically exhausted even after sleeping

Our bodies are constantly responding to what we’re carrying day to day, whether that’s work, grief, anxiety, parenting, or simply the pressures of life.

One of the things I love about Romiromi and Mirimiri is that they create an opportunity to slow down, reconnect with your body, and notice where you’re holding tension. Every person’s experience is different, and sessions are tailored to what your tinana needs on the day.

Sometimes we become so used to carrying stress that it starts to feel “normal.”

Take a moment today and check in with yourself.

Where is your body asking for a little more care?

My day was spent at He Iwi kotahi tatou trust in moerewa giving Mirimiri to my aunties as they talk about nutritious Kai and building mindful and healthy relationships with food identifying triggers that send them down a sugar binge or over eating etc and understanding the addictions of Kai! I quite enjoyed being a tauira also grateful to my aunty who puts me in spaces where I can do my Mirimiri and basically show off my taonga I’ve been lucky enough to utilise I’ve also come ti realise I spend most of my time in the far north and might start manifesting a little move up north somewhere cause everytime I go up there I never wanna come back to whangarei 😆😆 hei aha I can feel my self getting distracted from going back to Aussie 😆🤦🏾‍♀️

Kia Ora Whanau,

A little rant from me. Excuse the bluntness if you get offended by what I say.

Since opening my books again here in NZ I have been extremely generous in allowing people to book without a deposit to secure their booking (definitely a fault of my own) and people have not shown up repeatedly.

1: I do not like my time wasted
2: My business loses out on money to pay for expenses.
3: You waste my energy

I am the nicest softest caring person and I will always try to find a way to help those who need it most BUT when I feel disrespected you are going to know about it.

I will take this as a learning curve and move on but from now on a non refundable deposit is required to secure your booking.

I am still In hopes that those who need me will find me!!
