π Pork Adobo
A classic Filipino favorite that's malasa, tender, and perfect with a big bowl of steaming rice! ππ€ Try this easy homemade Pork Adobo recipe.
π Ingredients
500 g pork belly, cut into bite-sized pieces
5 cloves garlic, crushed or minced
1 small onion, sliced
Β½ cup soy sauce
ΒΌ cup vinegar
1 cup water
3β4 pieces bay leaves
1 tsp whole black peppercorns
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp cooking oil
π©βπ³ Steps
1. Sear the pork.
Heat oil in a pan and cook the pork until lightly golden brown.
2. Add the aromatics.
Add garlic and onion. SautΓ© until fragrant and the onion softens.
3. Add the seasonings.
Pour in the soy sauce, then add bay leaves and peppercorns.
4. Add vinegar and water.
Pour in the vinegar and water. Bring to a boil. Avoid stirring immediately after adding the vinegar so its sharp aroma can cook off.
5. Simmer.
Cover and simmer over low heat until the pork becomes tender, about 35β45 minutes, adding a little water if needed.
6. Make it rich and glossy.
Add brown sugar, then uncover and simmer until the sauce reduces and coats the pork beautifully.
7. Serve!
Transfer to a serving plate and serve hot with freshly steamed rice. ππ
