Why can’t the government do something like this?

Instead of simply providing relief, why not buy agricultural products directly from farmers who were affected by the typhoon and distribute those products as relief goods to families and communities who were also affected?

It’s like hitting two birds with one stone—or, better yet, helping two sectors at the same time.

The affected farmers get an immediate market for whatever produce they were able to salvage, giving them much-needed income after the disaster. At the same time, the families affected by the typhoon receive fresh and nutritious food.

This could be a win-win approach: support the farmers, provide relief to affected families, reduce food wastage, and keep money circulating within local communities.

Government intervention should not only be about giving assistance to farmers after they lose their livelihood. Whenever possible, it should also create a market for their products and ensure that assistance reaches those who need it most.

Sometimes, the solution is not about spending more—it is about using government resources in a way that helps more people at the same time
