It has now been a year since Dr. Gabriel Hinolan, whom I deeply admire and respect as a surgeon, was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme β a particularly aggressive form of brain cancer.
I've witnessed firsthand his exceptional skill and leadership, as he would always lead his team in prayer before performing surgeries. Three years ago, I watched him operate on my father, who was then 86, for a recurrent inguinal hernia. Dr. Hinolan demonstrated remarkable precision, meticulously explaining the anatomical details and walking the surgical team through each stage of the procedure. That surgery ultimately granted my father a few more years of quality life before his passing earlier this year.
When my son was experiencing discomfort from an ingrown toenail, Dr. Hinolan approached him with the same gentle demeanor like that of a compassionate pediatrician, skillfully removing the nail before my son even realized it was done.
I've known him to be one of the most dedicated surgeons, even performing another surgery just a few months after his own brain operation.
As Doc Gab continues his battle against this illness, let's keep him in our thoughts and pray for his comfort and recovery.
