The requirement to present the hard copy of a prescription is intended to help ensure that every prescribed medication dispensed is accurate and consistent with the instructions of the prescribing physician. This safeguards patients by minimizing the risk of medication errors and ensuring that they receive the right drug, in the right strength, dosage, and quantity as prescribed.
