As mental health professionals who work with individuals facing clinical depression, it’s truly disheartening to see comments saying that a depressed person is “weak.” In reality, it’s the opposite. Imagine someone who is invisibly wounded, gathering the courage to walk into a clinic and ask for help, that is strength.
We need to end the cycle of bullying and pain. Instead of attacking people who lack understanding about mental health, let’s choose to educate, guide, and show compassion. For example, if a parent doesn’t believe in mental health issues, attacking them won’t help. Offering understanding and proper information will.
Let’s build a kinder, more informed community.
