Kapag ang placenta o inunan ay nasa mababang bahagi ng matres at ito ay nakatakip nang bahagya o buo sa cervix, ito ay tinatawag na placenta previa. Maraming buntis ang hindi agad nakakaalam na mayroon sila nito hanggang makita ito sa ultrasound o makaranas ng pagdurugo habang buntis.

Kaya napakahalaga ng regular prenatal checkups. Sa pamamagitan ng maagang diagnosis, mas mababantayan ang pagbubuntis at mas mapaplano ang ligtas na panganganak para kay mommy at baby.
