Kung ang Pediatrics ay para sa mga bata, sino naman ang espesyalista sa mga senior citizen? 🤔

👉 Geriatrics ang tawag sa larangan ng medisina na nakatuon sa kalusugan ng mga matatanda 👵👴

Hindi lang ito simpleng check-up. Mas malalim ang pagtingin sa kanilang kalagayan dahil kadalasan ay sabay-sabay ang mga kondisyon tulad ng hypertension, diabetes, panghihina, at problema sa memorya.

May mga tinatawag ding geriatric syndromes gaya ng:
• Madalas na pagkahulog
• Pagkalito
• Kawalan ng kontrol sa pag-ihi
• Depresyon

👉 Madalas, hindi ito naibabahagi o natatanong sa ordinaryong konsultasyon.

Kaya mahalaga ang mas masusing pagsusuri tulad ng Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA) para masigurong holistic ang pag-aalaga sa ating mga lolo at lola ❤️ (Pag-uusapan natin ito sa susunod 😉)

🤔 Ang lahat ay nagsisimula sa pagiging curious at sa pagtatanong.

🙏 Maraming salamat sa St. Luke's Medical Center – Quezon City sa pagkakataong maipresenta ang aming pag-aaral tungkol sa paggamit ng Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM) sa mga older adults na may hypertension (altapresyon).

❤️ Bakit ito mahalaga?

👵👴 Ang mga senior ay mas mataas ang panganib na magkaroon ng mga komplikasyon ng altapresyon.

💊 Kasabay nito, maaari ring magkaroon ng epekto ang mga gamot sa altapresyon, lalo na kung masyadong mababa ang blood pressure.

⚖️ Kaya mahalagang mahanap ang tamang balanse—makontrol ang blood pressure habang nananatiling ligtas ang ating mga seniors.

📊 Ang ABPM ay nagbibigay ng mas kumpletong larawan ng blood pressure sa loob ng 24 oras, na makatutulong sa mas angkop at mas ligtas na paggamot.

💙 Patuloy po tayong nagsasagawa ng mga pag-aaral at pananaliksik upang mapabuti ang pangangalaga at kalidad ng buhay ng ating mga senior. Sama-sama nating isulong ang mas ligtas, mas epektibo, at mas makataong pangangalaga para sa kanila.
