A few weeks ago, I had the privilege and responsibility of operating on someone very close to my heart—𝗺𝘆 𝗺𝗼𝗺.

She had a suspicious, growing neck mass, and I performed her total thyroidectomy. During surgery, the mass turned out to be larger than expected. Thankfully, everything went smoothly. She was home in less than 24 hours and has since recovered well.

Then came the anxious wait for the final result.

I am happy to share the news we had been hoping and praying for—𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗕𝗘𝗡𝗜𝗚𝗡. 🙏

Of all the milestones in my journey as a surgeon, this will always be one of my greatest blessings—being able to care for the person who has cared for me all my life. ❤️

I am truly grateful to my colleagues, nurses, and medical staff who took such good care of my mom.

If there is one thing I hope to share from our experience, it is this:

𝗣𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲. 𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆. Early diagnosis and timely treatment can help prevent complications and bring the peace of mind that comes with knowing what you are dealing with.

Sometimes, simply encouraging someone you love to get checked is already an act of love.
