Adventist Hospital Cebu officially kicked off its World No To***co Day this May 2026 with a meaningful and informative health lecture held on May 26, 2026, at the AHC Lobby.
In partnership with the Barangay of San Nicolas led by Brgy. Captain Clifford Ninal, participants from the Barangay Service Point Officers (BSPO), Barangay Environmental Officers (BEO), and Barangay Lupon actively joined the event to strengthen awareness against smoking and va**ng.
The lecture was facilitated by Dr. Michelle F. Napigkit, Chief of Clinics and lead pulmonologist of Adventist Hospital Cebu. Her presentation highlighted:

The harmful effects of smoking on health

Moral and spiritual principles encouraging a smoke-free lifestyle
The event also marked the launch of the hospitalโs annual anti-smoking campaign: ๐ช โOtap Ko, Baylo sa Tabako Moโ ๐ช
This unique initiative encourages smokers to quit by exchanging every stick of cigarette for a delicious Otap snack and a quit-smoking flyer. Hospital employees actively participated in the drive, reaching out to individuals struggling with smoking addiction and inspiring them toward healthier living and healthier lungs.
Mrs. Juliet Buque, Health Educator of Adventist Hospital Cebu, played a vital role in organizing the event and continuously promotes awareness programs that prevent illness and inspire hope for better health.
One of the barangay lupons, Sir Eric, expressed appreciation for the hospitalโs active advocacy and shared his excitement for future collaborations between the barangay and Adventist Hospital Cebu to further help community members quit smoking.
Together, participants, speakers, and hospital staff ended the event with one powerful message: ๐ข โSTOP SMOKING BEFORE SMOKING STOPS YOU!โ ๐ญ
